Letta Mbulu Essentials

Emerging during the political tumult of the late ‘60s, South African singer Letta Mbulu—sharp, witty and highly infectious—seeped into the undercurrent of an American culture that celebrated being young, gifted, and black in the face of unending prosecution. She created enduring masterpieces with husband Caiphus Semenya as well as other gifted musicians, including Hugh Masekela, David Axelrod, Cannonball Adderley and Michael Jackson. It’s a career that endures to this day.
