Maxis together with Huawei recently marked a pivotal milestone in fibre optic technology by successfully completing a 50 Gigabit Passive Optical Network (50G PON) live trial, replicating a commercial set up. The achievement demonstrated our ability to run multiple #PON technologies on the same fibre infrastructure – ensuring we can meet our customers’ growing demand for ultra-fast, low latency connectivity. During the live trial conducted in a commercial facility in Selangor, Malaysia, we managed to hit sustained speeds of ~40Gbps — a substantial leap forward in fibre connectivity performance. 50G PON technology offers ultra-high speed, multi-device #connectivity and #lowlatency that is essential for modern digital infrastructure supporting enterprises, #smartcities, and Industry 4.0 applications. This latest speed breakthrough builds on our earlier success in 2022, where Maxis demonstrated 10G PON over our live fibre-to-home network. With 50G PON’s ultra-high speed and low latency performance, we look forward to connecting consumers and businesses to a world of possibilities.
