Data for 16- to 19-year-olds and 20- to 24-year-olds exclude persons enrolled in school.
Data for years prior to 1992 are for persons with 4 or more years of high school. Data for later years are for high school completers--i.e., those persons who graduated from high school with a diploma as well as those who completed high school through equivalency programs, such as a GED program.
Includes persons with no college degree as well as those with an associate's degree.
Data are for persons with 4 or more years of college, even if they did not complete a degree.
NOTE: Data are based on sample surveys of the noninstitutionalized population, which excludes persons living in institutions (e.g., prisons or nursing facilities); this table includes only data on the civilian population (excludes all military personnel). For each age group, the employment-to-population ratio of males is the number of males in that age group who are employed as a percentage of the male civilian population in that age group. Caution should be used when comparing 2020, 2021, and 2022 estimates to those of other years due to the impact that the coronavirus pandemic had on interviewing and response rates. For additional information about the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Current Population Survey data collection, please see https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/cps/techdocs/cpsmar23.pdf.
