NCES 2024103 PISA 2022 Financial Literacy Results
Financial literacy is offered as an optional domain in PISA. In PISA, the assessment of financial literacy focuses on students� ability to understand and engage with financial concepts and risks and apply their knowledge to real-life situations. The US participated in 2022 as well as the initial assessment in 2012, 2015, and 2018.

On May 7, 2024, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) will release Revenues and Expenditures for Public Elementary and Secondary Education: School Year 2021�22 (Fiscal Year 2022). This first look report presents state-level data on revenues by source and expenditures by function and object for public elementary and secondary education for school year 2021�22. The tables present data submitted annually to NCES by state education agencies in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and other jurisdictions.

NCES 2024022 High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09): A First Look at the 2021 Postsecondary Enrollment, Completion, and Financial Aid Outcomes of Fall 2009 Ninth-Graders
This First Look report provides selected findings from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09) Postsecondary Education Administrative Records Collection (PEAR). HSLS:09 follows a nationally representative sample of students who were ninth-graders in fall 2009 from high school into postsecondary education and the workforce. The PEAR data collection was conducted in 2021, approximately 8 years after high school graduation for most of the cohort. These data provide information on whether fall 2009 ninth-graders enrolled in postsecondary education by June 2021, and allow researchers to examine enrollment characteristics, degree completion, and financial aid awards for the subset of fall 2009 ninth-graders who enrolled in postsecondary education.

NCES 2024039 Teacher Attrition and Mobility Results From the 2021–22 Teacher Follow-up Survey to the National Teacher and Principal Survey
This report presents selected findings from the Current and Former Teacher Data Files of the 2021�22 Teacher Follow-up Survey (TFS). The TFS is a longitudinal component of the National Teacher and Principal Survey (NTPS). The 2021�22 TFS was conducted as a follow up to the 2020�21 NTPS to provide attrition and mobility information about teachers in K�12 public and private schools. The purpose was to assess how many teachers from the 2020�21 school year still worked as a teacher in the same school during the 2021�22 school year (�stayers�), how many had moved to become a teacher in another school (�movers�), and how many had left the teaching profession (�leavers�).

NCES 2023115 Highlights of PISA 2022 U.S. Results
This web report provides key comparative information on the reading, mathematics, and science literacy performance of 15-year-old students in the United States and 80 other participating education systems. The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is sponsored by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and focuses on students as they are nearing the end of compulsory schooling. PISA is conducted every 3 years, with 2022 being the latest round. In PISA 2022, the major domain was mathematics literacy, although reading and science literacy were also assessed. In addition to national average scores, PISA also provides insight into the percentage of students who reach each of the PISA proficiency levels.

NCES 2023466 2019–20 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:20): First Look at Student Financial Aid Estimates for 2019–20
This First Look publication provides the first results of the 2019�20 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:20), the most comprehensive national study of student financing of postsecondary education in the United States. This report includes information for about 80,800 undergraduate students and 19,700 graduate students attending 2,200 postsecondary institutions in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. This report describes the percentages of students receiving various types of financial aid and average amounts received, by type of institution attended, gender, race/ethnicity, attendance pattern, and income level. Percentages and average amounts are additionally described by dependency status for undergraduate students and by graduate program for graduate students. Supplemental tables feature state-level percentages of students receiving aid and average amounts received by undergraduate students.

NCES 2023054 PIRLS 2021 U.S. Highlights Web Report

The Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) is an international comparative study that measures 4th-grade reading performance every 5 years. PIRLS provides valuable information on the reading literacy of students in the United States and how their reading performance compares to that of students in other parts of the world. The study also surveys students� attitudes toward reading and their reading habits. In addition, students� principals answer questions about students� school experiences. The United States has participated in every administration of PIRLS since its inception in 2001. A total of 65 education systems participated in the 2021 PIRLS assessment.

This web report presents descriptive data from PIRLS 2021 on school operations during COVID-19, student reading performance and attitudes, and school reading resources.

NCES 2023055 Overview of the Middle Grades Longitudinal Study of 2017–18 (MGLS:2017): Technical Report
This technical report provides general information about the study and the data files and technical documentation that are available. Information was collected from students, their parents or guardians, their teachers, and their school administrators. The data collection included direct and indirect assessments of middle grades students� mathematics, reading, and executive function, as well as indirect assessments of socioemotional development in 2018 and again in 2020. MGLS:2017 field staff provided additional information about the school environment through an observational checklist.
