Hello Tractor and the Nigerian Country Team of the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) recently convened in Abuja for an outcomes validation meeting on the Hello Tractor Mechanization Hubs project. This partnership addresses the twin challenges of youth unemployment and limited access to agricultural mechanization by training young Nigerians aged 18-34, including 42% women, in in-demand mechanization skills and matching them with jobs through our portal. Under this partnership, we have trained young people across various states in Nigeria to: - Connect smallholder farmers with tractor owners — facilitating the efficient and effective utilization of agricultural machinery in rural areas; - Operate tractors more effectively — ensuring the optimal performance and maintenance of machinery to enhance productivity; - Repair and maintain tractors in collaboration with manufacturers — supporting the long-term sustainability of mechanized farming operations. By equipping these youth and women with these essential skills, this collaboration is creating thousands of sustainable livelihoods and boosting agricultural productivity in more communities across Nigeria. #YouthEmployment #WomenInAgriculture #NigeriaAgriculture #CFYE #AgricultureMechanization

Tractors are more than machines—they are catalysts for change. Since launching our PAYG product in 2022, smallholder farmer income has surged by 227%, delivering an astounding social return of 140% in Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda. As we expand this innovative solution to Rwanda later this month, we’re creating a domino effect of prosperity, equipping women and youth to earn steady incomes and build futures deeply connected to their communities. Their stories break down traditional barriers and inspire a brighter future for farmers everywhere. 🚜🌍 #PAYGRwanda #HelloTractor #AgricultureInnovation #SustainableFarming #WomenInAgriculture #YouthEmpowerment

🌾 Hello Tractor: Leading the Charge in Digital African Agriculture 🌾 Innovative funding models are critical to prevent food shortages predicted for Africa. Alvaro Lario, head of the UN's IFAD, highlighted that Africa could see over half of the world’s 582 million chronically undernourished people by 2030. The latest SOFI report shows Africa leading in hunger rates, with 20.4% facing food insecurity in 2023. (https://shorturl.at/tk6YR) Lario stressed the need for innovative financing and partnerships to drive investment in agriculture. Grants alone won't cut it — we need finance to mobilize more resources. At Hello Tractor, we've always believed in partnerships. We're key players in the digital African agriculture ecosystem. Today, we’re meeting with top investment partners to expand our pay-as-you-go tractor finance program. Our goal is to reach 2 million more farmers and entrepreneurs with climate-smart mechanization. Economic Challenges Facing Farmers: 1. Decreasing Commodity Prices: Prices for key crops are falling, cutting into farmers' revenues and making it harder for them to stay profitable. 2. Rising Production Costs: Inflation is driving up the costs of essential inputs like fertilizer, seeds, and crop care products. This squeezes farmer margins even more. 3. Higher Interest Rates: Increased borrowing costs are putting additional pressure on farmers, making it harder for them to finance their operations and invest in necessary equipment. 4. Inflation in the Input Supply Chain: The cost of equipment, particularly tractors, has surged. This makes mechanization — a key driver of productivity — less accessible to small farmers. 5. Higher Fuel Prices: Rising fuel costs further increase the cost of operating machinery and transporting goods, adding to the financial strain on farmers. Despite these challenges, our network of 1.3 million farmers and 3.7 million acres under management gives us strong momentum. We're here to adapt, support our farmers, and ensure food security while creating jobs and income. Excited for today’s discussions and the partnerships we'll forge. 🎉 Special thanks to our attendees: Rabobank (Jenny de Nobel), John Deere (Eng Benson Lukania), Mastercard Foundation (Ryan Friesen), Heifer International (Kevin Gituma), GSMA (Leonard Kore), Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), USAID, British International Investment (Dimitri Da Gama Rose), U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (Teddy Onserio) #DigitalAgriculture #HelloTractor #Partnerships #AgInnovation #FoodSecurity*

One of the biggest challenges in adopting mechanized farming in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa is the lack of skilled operators to manage tractors on farms and skilled technicians to maintain and repair them when they break down. These gaps have led to Nigeria and Africa experiencing shorter lifespans of their tractors. For context, the average tractor in Nigeria operates for about two to three years, compared with 15 to 20 years in other countries. To address this, Hello Tractor has embarked on a strategic initiative to train more operators and technicians across the country and the continent. Just this month, we concluded another training in Abuja, Nigeria, where we trained 22 new Dealer Certified Licensed Technicians (DCLTs) for one week in collaboration with the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE), the Agriculture Graduate Association of Nigeria (AGAN), and AGCOMS International Trading Limited. These DCLTs now have certification that validates their expertise and capacity to perform maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics. This is part of a larger strategic initiative to create new jobs across Nigeria for more women and young people between the ages of 18 and 34. So far, this initiative has resulted in the training of over 800 new booking agents, 150 new tractor operators, 100 new telematics technicians, and more than 40 new tractor technicians. These young people will be connected with opportunities across the mechanization value chain through our portal, which matches them with jobs. #HelloTractor #Mechanization #Agriculture #JobCreation #Nigeria #Partnership #Training #Technicians #Farmers #AgricultureTechnology #Agritech #SustainableAgriculture

Our PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) program is making a significant impact with 171 tractors, 165,073 acres serviced, and 138,624 farmers reached. This innovative program boosts agricultural productivity and equips young people to become entrepreneurs. Through PAYG, youth are transitioning from booking agents to young tractor owners. This shift provides them with a steady income and fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility. By enabling access to affordable tractor services, PAYG helps farmers adopt modern, efficient farming practices, leading to increased crop yields and improved livelihoods. #PAYG #AgriculturalInnovation #YouthEmpowerment #SustainableFarming #EconomicOpportunity

Hello Tractor is excited to share the activities at our newly launched hub at Mauche. A groundbreaking initiative focused on advancing conservation agriculture. This hub will serve as a comprehensive resource for farmers, offering education on sustainable farming practices and access to essential conservation implements. We aim to equip farmers with the knowledge and tools to adopt environmentally friendly techniques that improve soil health and increase crop yields. In addition to conservation education, the Mauche Hub will introduce farmers to warehouse receipt systems. These systems provide a secure way for farmers to store their harvests, offering better protection against market fluctuations and ensuring they can sell their produce at optimal times for higher profits. Through the Mauche Hub, we aim to transform the agricultural landscape by promoting sustainable practices, enhancing productivity, and ensuring financial stability for farmers. Join us in this exciting journey to empower our farming communities and foster a greener, more prosperous future for all! 🌾🌍📚🔧 #HelloAt10 #MechanizationHub #ConservationalAgriculture
