From Classroom to Championship Rebecca Enilolobo from Egba Odeda Junior High School exemplifies how opportunities beyond the classroom can change lives. In May 2024, she participated in our Let Girls’ Thrive Sports (LGT) Festival, where she showcased her athletic skills and developed essential life skills through sports and play. In August 2024, Rebecca excelled at the Nigeria School Sports Festival Athletics Championship and World School Athletics Trials 2024 in Ibadan, Oyo State, achieving: 🏷1st position in the 100m heat with a time of 12.62 seconds 🏷6th fastest in the 100m under-15 finals nationwide with a time of 12.81 seconds 🏷3rd fastest in the 200m under-15 finals with a time of 25.58 seconds, despite competing against older athletes Rebecca’s journey from excelling at our LGT Sports Festival to becoming a national contender highlights the impact of nurturing talent and empowering young girls. We kicked off our professional development training program for 500 educators and 20 education officers in Osun State, in collaboration with the TY Danjuma Foundation, supported by the Osun State TRCN and Ministry of Education. The program began with clear objectives, followed by a session led by TY Danjuma representatives on the transformative power of education. Participants then engaged in sessions on innovative classroom strategies, vision setting, and techniques to enhance learning environments, with a strong focus on checking for student understanding.
