TOGETHER—that was the theme of this year’s Canal Pride in Amsterdam. We embraced this fully by joining forces with W Rome to create the Stage for Change. As we celebrate the pioneering spirit of the Netherlands, the first country to legalize marriage equality, we also shifted our focus to Italy—encouraging it to embrace this right and eliminate the last Western European holdout against marriage equality. During this Queer Me Out session, we broadened perspectives and explored “The Global Journey to Marriage Equality and the Role of Youth in Shaping the Future.” This event was only possible TOGETHER with Boris Dittrich, who played a pivotal role in making the Netherlands the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage in 2001; Solange Dekker, who provided valuable insights into the challenges faced by transwomen; and Stefano Minder and Aurelio Sampognaro from Italy, who courageously shared their personal experiences and the contrasts between Italy and the Netherlands; and Jo Sarah, who was an outstanding panel speaker. The key takeaway: SPEAK UP. The more we raise our voices, the greater the impact we can achieve. A victory for our WOW Team Last weekend, we competed in the annual Hotel Beach Volleyball tournament. A tournament that is held between different hotels in Amsterdam. Our WOW Team had the best time playing Volleybal together with so many other players. Representing W Amsterdam, we could not be prouder of our WOW team to win this tournament. Big cheer for our champions. Thank you for showing heart on the court and to work together as a great team.
