As the pandemic accelerated the closure of third places and exacerbated the loneliness epidemic, one’s yearning for human connection intensified, showing up in obsessive forms of behaviour. DATA According to a survey by Business Insider in partnership with YouGov, 29% of Gen Z said technology and social media have made them either somewhat or much more lonely – the highest of any generation. LEVERAGE THE TREND (1) Create opportunities for your community to form a sense of connection through personalised online platforms such as podcasts and long-form content, or IRL meet ups such as pop-up events and localised product drops. (2) Collaborate with influential voices and connect with their communities through valuable activations. NEED HELP?
