‘Jeroen is a well read, articulate & smart individual. I recall during monthly country management board meetings he was highly respected and admired. He has an unassuming manor but his sparkling yet casual sense of humour and sharp mind provide clues into his intellect. He co-built the Benelux region ino a compelling profit centre in record time.’

How can you design EdTech that meets all stakeholders' needs?
Realistically, if your goal is 'designing EdTech that meets all stakeholders' needs', that is basically impossible; you can't keep everyone happy all the time. So, focus on the most important stakeholders and be prepared to explain 'why' to all the others. As an example: our company allows teachers to delegate the bulk of grading work so they can dedicate themselves to stuff where they add much more value. AI is a technology that may or may not be able to do that for teachers in the future, but not today. That means I've had to explain a million times why we're not using AI to grade students' documents and instead delegate grading to external qualified professionals instead. But I don't mind, as my focus is on helping teachers today.

How can you design EdTech that meets all stakeholders' needs?
Loving all the previous explanations. I would add that you need to define on which axis or dimension you are trying to improve stakeholders' lives. So often we claim to make life easier for teachers when really we are adding to their workload. So, for example, are you trying to do something less expensively or more efficiently, or are you trying to teach more to students, or making them remember it for longer time, or are you trying to make them more engaged or stay longer in education or making them safer? Just be clear and honest about it.

How can you design EdTech that meets all stakeholders' needs?
Step 1 is to distinguish between your actual users (those who will interact with your application or service) and other stakeholders. Users are often students, teachers and sometimes school management and parents. Depending on the phase you find yourself in, the other stakeholders may be school boards but also investors or other financiers. Design for your users, communicate with your other stakeholders.
