Team DX were in Haugesund for the Norwegian International Film Festival last week 👋 It was great to catch up with our Norwegian customers and discuss the potential of the upcoming national and international film slate, which looks incredibly promising! Here are some highlights from the festival: ➡️ A panel on creative marketing for Aki Kaurismäki’s 2023 indie hit Fallen Leaves. Distributors from Taiwan, Czechia, and Norway shared their audience-engagement strategies that drove the film’s success, including ‘Knitting Cinema’ screenings, short-form Instagram content, influencer partnerships, and creative merchandising. ➡️ A talk on AI tools for filmmakers with contributions from Midjourney and Microsoft, and how they can support production, design, and concept-development, as well as addressing audience concerns and challenges. Our CEO Martin Berg contributed to the debate with an animated talk on the topic. ➡️ Insights into the future of VR animation, expanding animated-film worlds onto digital platforms to engage new audiences and push creative boundaries.

Lack of digital transformation in the cinema sector is negatively impacting growth and competitive customer experiences. So, what’s the solution?💡 Today’s audiences expect seamless, convenient, and personalised online experiences as standard, but without integrated TMS and cinema management systems, many operators are: - Unable to provide smooth online booking experiences expected by customers - Wasting valuable time and resource on laborious admin tasks = less time for audience development, or innovative marketing - Missing out on vital data and insights to support effective business decision-making and operational efficiencies - At risk of human error or/ faults disrupting the cinemagoing experience How can Open APIs change the game? 🖥️ Open APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) allow different software systems to communicate effortlessly. For cinema operators, this means: - Streamlined Operations: Routine tasks are automated, freeing up time to focus on enhancing the customer experience - Better audience engagement: Data is leveraged to enable more personalised marketing, optimised checkouts, dynamic ticketing and upselling opportunities - Seamless Integration: All your cinema systems are interconnected - from ticketing to CRM - so everything works harmoniously By adopting open APIs, cinemas can not only improve efficiency but also provide a more tailored experience for moviegoers.🍿 Our Business Development Manager Guillaume Branders’ latest article for CTC magazine explores the advantages and necessities of open APIs to transform cinema exhibition. That’s a wrap on #CineEurope! 🎬 As always, we had a fantastic time, catching up with friends old and new, with a special mention to Jan Runge, Elise Brandt and our Finnish friends. Kippis! 🥂 DX had the great pleasure and honour of moderating two insightful sessions this year, with high level speakers sharing a wealth of valuable insights. 👀 Overall, we’re coming away with a positive outlook on the next few years and a sense of optimism - the 2025 film slate looks stacked and we are all feeling uplifted by the recent box office success of Inside Out 2 - things are looking up! 📈 Some highlights: ✅Studios reminded us about the importance of showmanship, Paramount especially went all out (in costume!) with a super creative intro to their Gladiator 2 sneak preview! ✅ Despite the challenging economic climate, cinemas continue to invest in the experience, with fantastic new sites being built such as ICTA award winner The Light, Redhill 🎞️ ✅Image, sound and comfort remain key investment focuses for operators - but we need to look beyond and deliver on every step of the cinemagoing journey, including a digital experience that competes on the same level as other entertainment sectors ✅ Great range of topics explored during the many insightful sessions, from leadership skills to the power of partnerships with an inspiring presentation from the McLaren F1 Team 🏎️ ✅ It’s up to everyone in the cinema sector to shout about our strengths, and build a positive narrative around the industry We’re leaving Barcelona feeling positive and energised, ready for some exciting months ahead! 👋
