Alleged mail bomber had run-in with cops two months ago

The Florida man accused of mailing 15 pipe bombs to high-profile Democrats had a friendly chat two months ago with a pair of cops who caught him snoozing in his van, which was decked out with right-wing imagery, new footage shows.

Bodycam footage taken by one of the Boca Raton officers was released showing their five-minute encounter with Cesar Sayoc just before 9 a.m. Sept. 1, CNN affiliate WPTV reported.

The 56-year-old was dozing in the driver’s seat of his van in a parking lot of an LA Fitness when cops approached.

The officer tells him someone had called them to report Sayoc.

“They were concerned about you,” the cop says.

“I was just got done working up at the Ultra nightclub. I worked ’til 6 o’clock,” an upbeat Sayoc responds.

At one point, the cop’s bodycam pans to the side window of Sayoc’s van, showing it plastered with pro-Trump and anti-media stickers.

“I guess you’re a Trump supporter?” the officer asks.

Sayoc firmly replies, “Yes, sir.”

During the conversation, Sayoc ticks off all the places he works, saying he was trying to squeeze in a workout before heading for a DJ gig at 2 p.m. that day.

“I’ve been working, gosh, about 104, 108 hours a week,” the former male stripper and gym buff tells the cops. “Been at LA Fitness since 2000.”

Sayoc also mentions a relative he claims is part of the Seminole tribe.

During the encounter, the cop ran Sayoc’s license plate and checked his license. Both came up valid.

Sayoc was arrested Oct. 26 for allegedly sending the crudely made bombs over the span of more than a week.

His lawyers waived a hearing Friday morning in Miami federal court, paving the way for him to be extradited to New York, where he faces several charges, CBS Miami reported.

He remains held without bail. He faces up to 48 years behind bars.
