Bill Ackman closes on last apartment for his new $22.5M penthouse

Hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman has just closed on the last of four apartments that make up his new $22.5 million penthouse off of Central Park West, according to city property records.

The activist investor and CEO of Pershing Square Capital bought four uncombined apartments from the late author Nancy Friday on the top floor of 6 W. 77th St., across from the Museum of Natural History.

All four apartments closed on the same day, but the last apartment was recorded separately for $8.9 million, records show.

The 13-room penthouse includes a main duplex, where Friday lived, but work will need to be done to combine the units into one apartment, a source said.

Ackman brought his fiancée – Brad Pitt’s former crush and MIT professor Neri Oxman – to see the penthouse before he bought it.

“She was so cool,” a spy said. “They climbed up a ladder to the roof together. It was so romantic.”

The penthouse is not far from Ackman’s ex-wife, who lives at the Beresford — at 211 Central Park West between West 81st and 82nd — with their kids.

Ackman did not comment by press time.

Listing brokers Wendy Sarasohn and Jamie Joseph, of Brown Harris Stevens, declined to comment.

Ackman also owns the $91.5 million “Winter Garden” penthouse at One57 — the second-most expensive apartment ever sold in New York City — which he once said he wouldn’t sell for less than $500 million.
