Casey Anthony’s dad seriously injured in car crash

George Anthony, the father of Casey Anthony and a witness at her murder trial, was seriously injured in a car crash in Florida, police officials said.

Anthony was driving on Interstate 4 between Daytona Beach and Orlando on Saturday night when he fell ill and crashed his SUV, authorities said.

Anthony apparently drove his 1999 Toyota 4-Runner on the right shoulder of the interstate and flipped it while trying to swerve back onto the roadway, CNN reported, citing a Florida traffic report.

He was taken to a local medical center after the crash to be treated for “incapacitating” injuries, the Miami Herald reported.

Anthony appeared on the Dr. Oz show in October and told the host he does not speak to his daughter, who was arrested for allegedly killing her 2-year-old daughter in 2008.

“Casey and I right now, it’s like oil and water, one of us is floating, one of us is sinking or something,” he said on the show. “She doesn’t need to exist anymore.”

Anthony, a retired police detective, gained national attention when Casey Anthony was on trial for allegedly killing and burying the child’s remains in a wooded area near her Orlando home.

Casey Anthony’s defense lawyers argued that George Anthony had disposed of the tot’s body in the woods and that he also abused his daughter during her childhood.

George Anthony testified at her 2011 trial and denied any wrongdoing.

Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder, aggravated manslaughter and aggravated child abuse, but was found guilty of a misdemeanor for lying to the police.
