Muay Thai fighter knocks out ref with brutal face kick

Muay Thai fighter Gou Dakui bizarrely knocked out his opponent and the referee with one brutal combo on Saturday.

The Chinese star floored the official with a ferocious kick to the face when he stepped in to stop the fight at MAX Muay Thai.

Dakui was the firm favorite to win the bout against Thailand’s Super X Sitsontidech, but he hit the canvas in the first round after a slow start. The 25-year-old regained his momentum in the second round and managed to rock Super X with an explosive right hook.

When the Thailand-born fighter started to wobble, the official bravely dived between the two fighters. But Dakui did not realize and he attempted to land one final hit on his opponent as he backed up against the ropes. As a result, he sent the referee crashing to the canvas after he struck him in the face with a powerful kick.

The official clutched his nose and he was unable to get up or out of the ring. Super X was also slumped on the ground at the same time as a result of Dakui’s initial right hook.

Shocked TV commentators said: “Oh my god, the referee got kicked, the referee got knocked down. Oh no, that is something I have never seen in over 30 years of watching Muay Thai. Another referee has come in to help the referee. Just when I thought I’d seen it all in my Muay Thai Career.”

Regardless of the controversial ending, Dakui was awarded the win in the second round to extend his record to 21-9.
