Alec Bohm couldn’t keep straight face during disaster Home Run Derby national anthem

Alec Bohm fell victim to becoming a viral meme at the 2024 Home Run Derby.

The Phillies third baseman tried to keep his composure during country singer Ingrid Andress’ shaky rendition of the national anthem, but he couldn’t help but crack a smile when she went off key, more than once.

Bohm, who was standing on one of the stars at Globe Life Field in Arlington, buried his head in his chest when the ESPN broadcast focused on him.

Andress — a four-time Grammy nominated artist — put on quite the performance, which some said surpassed Fergie’s viral national anthem at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.

“Get Fergie back in here,” someone said on X.

The internet had a field day with Andress’ awkward delivery, and some noticed Bohm’s reaction.

“Bohm almost lost it,” one person wrote on X, while another said he was “having a hard time with that.”

“Players deserve credit for keeping straight faces,” another added.

Andress has yet to address the reactions to her performance.

The 32-year-old singer/songwriter has been featured on the Billboard Hot 100.

She’s widely known for her 2019 single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” which peaked at 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 — and earned a 2021 Grammy nomination for Best Country Song.

Andress’ song “Wishful Thinking” featuring Sam Hunt was nominated for a Grammy in 2023.

Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez beat out Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. by one homer to win the derby in the final round.
