Blue Jays unlikely to deal Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette at trade deadline: Oddsmakers

Oddsmakers are throwing some water on a potential fire sale in Toronto.

FanDuel Sportsbook Canada is anticipating Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette to remain with the Blue Jays through the MLB trade deadline, pegging them at -550 and -450, respectively, to avoid being dealt.

The All-Stars have been in persistent trade rumors amid the Blue Jays’ disappointing 2024 season.

Toronto entered the All-Star Break at 44-52, last place in the American League East and 9.5 games out of an AL Wild Card spot.

In early June, Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins claimed “it just doesn’t make any sense for us” to trade Guerrero, 25, and Bichette, 26, who are both due to be free agents following the 2025 season.

But that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from churning.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported earlier this month that the Blue Jays “could be a huge factor” at this year’s deadline.

The chatter reached Bichette directly in late June when Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae broached the topic of a potential trade from Toronto.

“No. Not surprised at all,” Bichette said when asked if a trade would surprise him.

Even Guerrero has recently touched on the trade speculation, backtracking on previous comments that he would never play for the Yankees.

“I’m a worker. I’m a professional,” Guerrero said when asked in June if he’d play for the Bronx Bombers if traded there. “I go out on the field to play.”

With so much smoke out there, FanDuel oddsmakers aren’t completely ruling out a trade.

Guerrero and Bichette are currently +360 and +320 to be moved on or before July 30, so the door is still open.

If Toronto struggles out of the break, look for even more rumors to swirl around Guerrero and Bichette, who will easily be the best bats on the trade market over the coming weeks.
