Sonja Morgan Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at Moving Out of N.Y.C. Townhouse After Selling It: 'End of an Era'

Sonja Morgan is finally bidding adieu to her “cherished” New York City townhouse. 

The Real Housewives of New York City alum, 60, marked the “end of an era” at the home with a video showing a team of home movers helping to remove her things from the residence a little over a month after selling it during an auction in May.

In the Instagram video, which was set to Billie Eilish’s somber tune “What Was I Made For,” Morgan showed the exterior of the home one last time before cutting to scenes of herself directing the movers on what items to carry out next. 

The reality star also appeared to enjoy the amenities of the house before moving out, as she could be seen brushing her teeth at a bathroom sink. The video then cut to more boxes piled alongside her bed and movers continuing to haul out more boxes. Over the video, she wrote, “end of an era.”

She also wrote a lengthy tribute in the caption of the post, sharing that she had been “reflecting” on the “wonderful memories created” in the townhouse — “from raising my daughter to hosting unforgettable dinner parties and of course filming iconic ‘Real Housewives’ scenes.”

“This stately brownstone has been a cornerstone of me and family’s life, a beautiful sanctuary filled with laughter and love. 💕,” she wrote. “Now, as I prepare to embrace a new chapter, I feel lighter and ready to return to my roots as an artist, with more time to be the creative individual I am. 🧑‍🎨.”

“I am excited to pass on this magnificent home to its next owner, who will undoubtedly create their own wonderful memories here. 🏡✨,” Morgan concluded the post, while asking fans to share their “favorite” RHONY scene “at the townhouse" in the comments.

Several fans said they loved all the “parties” and “events” that Morgan threw there — which were featured in several RHONY episodes. One fan wrote, “From the opera singer performing on the main floor, to the psychic in the dining room… it truly is an end to an era.” 

Another commented, “I can’t believe I spent half of my twenties here with you. So many memories on and off camera that I’ll always treasure.”

Several Real Housewives stars also shared their thoughts on the move, including RHONJ's Margaret Josephs, who commented: “Beautiful memories that will live on forever in all of our hearts, excited for you to make new ones! Grateful for you @sonjatmorgan ❤️🙏💋👧🏼.”

Morgan’s RHONY costar Dorinda Medley — who previously encouraged her to "just auction” the home and “move on” — wrote, “Change is difficult but so many beautiful and wonderful adventures and memories to make! Love you.”

Morgan has either rented out the home or attempted to sell it for more than a decade, after initially putting it up for sale amid her 2013 divorce from J.P. Morgan heir John Morgan. She then revealed on RHONY that she rented out the property for $32,000 per month, according to Bravo.

Eventually she put the 4,650-square-foot, five-story home up for auction on May 15. It is unclear how much the home sold for, though Modlin Group, the real estate company that listed the property, reported the "current high bid" as $4 million a day after the auction closed.
