- English: <not existant yet>
- German: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Technische_W%C3%BCnsche/Topw%C3%BCnsche#Technisch_sauberes_Verschieben_von_Dateien_nach_Commons_unter_Beibehaltung_der_Versionsgeschichte_und_des_Benutzernamens_.5BUmfrage_2013.5D
**Current list of possibly included tasks**:**Insights:**
- The goal is to create an extension that really moves (not uploads again) files to commons, keeping all data intact. This includes description history, file historyre are files that should stay on Wikipedia and not be moved to Commons, binary file itself (all versions), info about who moved the file (also display the move in the version history)e.g. Investigation task: T141867files under the fair use licence
- After the move, the file should also have the correct template assorted.- Currently, Investigation task: T143415the commonshelper tool is mainly used to move files to Commons
- People with "rollback permission" (in German context: "Zurücksetzer") should be able to undo the move.- It is not about writing a bot to move many files quickly, Investigation task: T143414but about writing a correct method for moving a single file
**Plan**:
- It should not be possible to move files that have a wrong licencemplement a Commons extension that moves files to Commons, keeping all data intact. This includes description history, file history, e.gbinary file itself (all versions), info about who moved the file (also display the move in the version history). fair-useT146666
- The extension is not limited to Wikipedia but could be called from any project (probably)Link the new extension from Wikipedia file pages where appropriate TODO TASK
- Integrate a rollback option for people with rollback permission (in German context: "Zurücksetzer") TODO TASK / Investigation task: T143414
**Still to be found out:**
- Is there a better way to update the WP template to Commons template mapping than having a list + pull requests? T143415
- Still open: How the parts look like that users interact with. Investigation task: T143098
