It's always such a treat to discuss one of my very favorite aspects of Walt Disney World Resort - the Monorail - so I'm delighted to answer your question!
Walt Disney World's complimentary transportation options provide such convenient and efficient methods for traveling between theme parks and Disney Resort hotels. planDisney recently released a
podcast episode and
Disney Parks Blog article highlighting the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of navigating the various modes of travel that you might find generally helpful, but for the specific circumstances you outlined, you'll want to focus on gliding into Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa aboard the
Walt Disney World Resort Monorail System.
All parking for Guests of Magic Kingdom Park occurs at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) which conveniently houses its own Monorail Station. If you are heading straight to the Grand Floridian from your car, simply follow the signage to the Monorail, but be sure to board the Resort Monorail (and stand clear of the doors once you do), otherwise, you'll find yourself directly headed for Magic Kingdom Park or EPCOT. Of course, neither of these is a bad place to wind up, they're just not your intended destination.
If you are planning to park at the TTC and enjoy some time at Magic Kingdom Park before heading over to the Grand Floridian, you will have a couple of options to reach your destination. You could take the Resort Monorail from Magic Kingdom (the Grand Floridian will be the final stop), or you could take the path less traveled and follow the walkway that connects Magic Kingdom Park and
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This 15(ish) minute scenic walk along Seven Seas Lagoon is one of the few things that might actually tear me away from a ride on my beloved Monorail.
Once your evening has concluded, please keep in mind that the Monorail is scheduled to run one hour after Magic Kingdom Park closes for the evening. If you're planning to linger at the Grand Floridian past that time, you'll need to take the
walkway to the TTC that runs through Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to reunite with your vehicle.
As a bit of bonus tip: If you're undecided on a particular viewing spot,
my pal Jonathan recommends
Gasparilla Island Grill while I prefer to secure a perfectly timed dinner reservation at
Narcoossee's, especially for a celebration. No matter where you choose to take in the magical display, I sincerely hope that you are left feeling renewed and ready to reach out and find your happily ever after.
