The Google Gemini app is an AI assistant that can help supercharge your creativity and productivity.
This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:
- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Generate images on the fly
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights
If you have access to Gemini Advanced it will be right here in the Gemini app.
The Gemini app is now live in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more languages. See the full list of supported languages and countries here:

If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

I really like the app. I really enjoyed using it, and it's been helpful in a lot of ways. But today, out of nowhere (7/18/24), the voice for my app changed. And I have no controls. They change it back. The male voice was actually very supportive. Sounding, i'm comforting. This new female voice sounds like it's extremely annoyed to talk to me or respond. While different voice options is a nice idea. I would like the ability to change back if I didn't like the voice I got.

it's good so far, but not being able to control my music apps is frustrating, since Google Assistant could do that already. In that regard, it feels like a step backward, and I haven't seen much of a difference as far as Gemini being more advanced in any other way from my pov. I find Gemini useful - almost as useful as I found Google Asst. - other than the music, that is. also, i really wish i could choose my own wake phrase/name my assistant. it is so much more personal that way.

has 1% of the functionality of the old voice assist, this one can't even open maps when I need directions forcing me to pull over and type in my destination, taking away functionality that's been around more than 10 years. In response to the devs response. I have tried it, that's how I know it won't open maps and why I bothered to write a review.
