“It's a pleasure to recommend Nuno. I have supervised him during his Master's Thesis work at TUDelft. I was very happy with Nuno's work and his attitude. He is the type of student everybody would like to supervise. He is independent, he learns fast, he is smart, and he is not scared of working hard (and way extra hours to get things done). He is also very goal-oriented. This attitude has allowed him to finish his thesis in roughly 7 months (from february till August), versus the more common 9 to 12 months that we expect at TU Delft. Nonetheless, the quality of his work has not been affected (by any means) by this shorter time frame. When Nuno started his thesis, he had a very basic view on optimization and on research in general. During his thesis work, he has maturated considerably. He has learned the fundamental optimization tools (from simple quadratic programs to more complicated semidefinite programs) both from a theoretical perspective, as well as their implementation as computer programs. Furthermore, he has developed the required skills to capture the important ideas in scientific publications and relate them to his work. Finally, he has learn to formulate novel research questions based on existing theoretical frameworks, to analyze them and propose possible solutions or ways to attack them. The easiness with which he has grasped the theoretical concepts and made them his is quite remarkable. I have been very positively impressed by Nuno's work, and its potential applicability on real hardware. If all my students were as good, independent, pro-active, and talented as Nuno, my research projects would benefit vastly. ”

“It is a true pleasure for me to write a recommendation for Nuno for the T&C experience he had first as a graduate and then as a T&C Lead Engineer at the Dubai International Airport APM project (UAE). I had the pleasure of working directly with Nuno during 14 months in the T&C Department and his tremendous abilities never ceased to amaze me. I was his direct supervisor at Bombardier, and during that time, we worked together closely, so I fully understand his capabilities.
