Fourteen cases of carotid cavernous fistula (CCF), including 9 cases of traumatic CCF and 5 cases of spontaneous CCF, were treated respectively or in combination with the ligation of the carotid, the isolation of the fistula, following clipping of its upper and lower reaches of the carotid, and endovascular treatment of balloons, steel coils, dry frozen dural pieces or Ivalon grains. It is considered that the detachable balloon endovascular embolization is a choice treatment for CCF.
