Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is an illness to be considered differently according to patient's age. In the elderly, it is necessary to check classical complications or other cardiovascular risk factors, but also to take into account general health and patient's autonomy. Both aims and treatments should be adjusted accordingly on an individual basis.
