Abstract

Introduction: Aerosols, these particles considered initially like "magic", are slowly delivering their secrets.

State of art: For several years studies on the subject have increased and companies have maximised their efforts to improve the technology for transforming drugs into the optimal aerosol. Recently new systems have appeared on the market. Mesh nebulisers can reduce the inhalation time, metered dose inhalers have modified their formulations to improve the efficiency of drug deposition and dry powder inhalers require lower inspiratory flows.

Perspectives/conclusions: In the near future new systems using technologies of greater or lesser sophistication should appear on the market.
