Product Description

Having left San Diego for New York City, Ron Burgundy is living the high life with his wife Veronica Corningstone and son Walter Burgundy. However, when the boss decides to promote Veronica to full time lead anchor and fire Ron, everything changes. Now heading back to San Diego, Ron is washed up and working part time at Sea World. His shot at redemption though comes in the form of a man named Freddie Schapp, who's an executive producer at the Global News Network, the world's first 24 hour round the clock news channel. He hires Ron, who proceeds to reunite the news team of Champ, Brick, and Brian, and head back to New York City. While there Ron and his news team are given the graveyard shift and a challenge. Ron comes up with a radical new idea to transform the news and that puts him at the top of the game once again. But how long will Ron's newfound fame last? And will Brick finally find true love?

The Movie is Hilarious! Love Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and really the Whole gang! This is a very funny movie for sure! However again, third movie this week, Amazon has become pure garbage. And Again, Guess they think they can get away with This type of behavior due to all the pandemic buying. Have literally been with Amazon for decades and have never been more disappointed! Three movies bought this week, All supposed to be new, NOT ONE OF THEM WERE, NOT ONE! Bought them to watch and try to relax after having chemo this week, but No, I have to deal with This Absolute Frustration! This movie was one of the first two I bought, it was in cheap shrink wrap, NOT original packaging at all, just like ALL the other movies we bought. This one as well, looks as if someone ate fried chicken, fingered literally ALL the disks and sent it back! (Valarian And the City of a Thousand Worlds, was in even worse shape.) And then Amazon just shrink warped it back up to ship out again! And once Again Amazon, you didn't think we would notice!?! And once Again, an Insult to our intelligence!, And patronage ALL these years! And yes still ticked!

Never, in history has there been a good comedy sequel. Never. We've seen everything from Airplane 2 to Naked Gun 2 to Naked Gun 3 to Fockers 2 to Fockers 3 to Grown Ups 2 to... the list goes on. Well my friends, I'm here to say that there's a first time for everything.
I'm here to say that Anchorman 2 The Legend Continues is a movie that's so funny, it put's even it's own Predecessor to shame.
And, believe me, I know how crazy that sounds. I'm a huge fan of the original. I had that film memorized LONG before the sequel came out. I know that the idea of a worthy sequel sounds ridiculous. I know the idea of a COMEDY sequel that is better than the original Anchorman is just incomprehensible, but as a true fan, I have to say: This is one of those things that you just have to take on Faith.
The film begins with a hilarious cameo from Drake fallowed by a great cameo from Harrison Ford. And the film's final battle features cameo appearances by Ford, Sacha Baron Cohen, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kanye West, Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Liam Neeson, The Ghost of Stonewall Jackson(played by a as funny as ever John C. Reilly), and concludes things with an unforgettable cameo from a very familiar face. This cameo will have any true Anchorman fan jump out of their seat and cheer.
This movie blew me away in two ways in particular. 1- It was so much funnier than the timeless classic that was the original. and 2. The thing that separated this film from every comedy sequel before it was a very few references there were to the first film. Not one of our beloved main characters repeat any of the lines that made them so famous. Like 95% of the humor was original. There were like 1 or 2 jokes that didn't really land, but the other 500 they just nailed it. "I did it and I nailed it! I nailed it!"
Well, that just about does it. From all of us here: You Stay Classy San Diego, and remember, Don't just have a great night, have an American Night.

Anchorman 2 brings back the entire cast of the first movie and sets them in the 1980s. In this movie, Ron Burgandy's (Will Ferrell) career is in a rut while Veronica's (Christina Applegate) is flourishing. Ron ends up at GNN (a riff on precisely what you think) a new 24-hour news network. He becomes a hit in the late-night timeslot, and hilarity (sometimes) ensues. There are two versions of the movie, the theatrical cut and an R-Rated cut that adds 25 minutes of running time to the movie and has many harder-edged jokes.

For those who get the Blu-Ray, there are a ton of extras. There is a commentary track on the R-rated version of the movie, about an hour of behind-the-scenes and making-of featurettes, about 20-minutes of table reads, a two-part gag reel, deleted scenes, and over an hour and a half of extended and alternate scenes. So, you get a lot of bonus features if you like watching them.

Overall, the movie is good, but not as good as the first. It does have some funny moments for sure, and Christina Applegate is great in it, but I do not think it is as consistently funny as the first movie was. There were some good additions to the cast including Kristen Wig, James Marsden, and Megan Good, and there are a bunch of character actors that you see in many of the SNL comedies and Apatow's movies. There are also a bunch of cameos from A-listers including Will Smith, Liam Neeson, Amy Poehler, Kirsten Dunst, Tina Fey, Jim Carrey, and more. The movie was definitely commercialized and did copy some from the first movie, but in general, I would say if you liked the original, you will probably like this one too.

While ANCHORMAN 2 does have its moments, it's largely disappointing and too long. The first Anchorman was a fun movie that was absurd and brilliant in the way it sent up gender stereotypes in the 1970's. There is some attempt to do something similar here, but it never seems like more than a random plot point or a chance to riff on a particular subject rather than being integral to the movie. The humor is almost dada-esque in its absurdity, but a lot of the jokes fell flat to me because they simply didn't have a punchline. Just pointing out how ridiculous you are doesn't count. The story was also very episodic, feeling like a bunch of sketches strung together. Sure, the first one was kind of like that, but it was also 30 minutes shorter. Still, there are a number of great lines and a couple of scenes which I laughed really hard at. One was a dinner with Ron and his new girlfriend's family, and the other was a news team melee that more than tops the brawl in the first film. It's also loaded with cameos. There was also a bunch of humor derived from what the 24-hour news cycle has done to broadcast news. Essentially, the movie has Ron Burgundy come up with Fox News' modus operandi off the top of his head. Those bits were pretty funny, although they never really commit to the idea. In fact, that's probably the biggest issue I have with the film, is that it doesn't really shoot for anything other than bigger jokes and more outlandish comedic set-pieces. Sequels are typically bigger than their predecessors, but this one just has a bloated run time when it could have gone with a full-on satire. Still, it was nice to see Ron and company back together again. Brick even gets a love interest(?) who's just as weird as he is, although that's one of the random things I would have trimmed. A lot of scenes between him and Kristen Wiig are just flat-out unfunny and go nowhere. I'd recommend this to fans of the original, but it would be hard for me to do the same for those uninitiated. They'd probably be better off checking out the original, which is far better than this one.
