Following up its most recent launch of an all-in-one eye protection lens, dubbed EyeQLenz, Zenni is back with an exciting new lens designed to filter out blue light for screen users (read: all of us). The new blue-light blocking lenses, Blokz+ Tints, offer 26 times more blue light filtration than standard lenses, according to the eyewear brand.

What to know about Blokz+ Tints

Zenni's new dual-action blue-light blocking lenses have an in-lens filter designed to block blue light up to 455 nanometers (most LED screens peak at a wavelength of 435-440 nm). The Blokz+ Tints also have a blue anti-reflective coating, helping them "block more blue light than the leading competitor," according to Zenni's Chief Technology Officer, David Ting. In addition, the lenses offer protection against UV rays as well as water-resistant, anti-reflective benefits for optimal clarity.

While most blue-light blocking lenses on the market are either clear or yellow-tinted, Blokz+ Tints are available in eight vibrant tints: amber, blue, green, gray, orange, rose, yellow, and purple. Blokz+ Tints are offered in non-prescription, single vision, and progressive lens options, and can fit any frame available on Zenni. They retail starting at just $6.95.

As our favorite prescription sunglasses retailer, Zenni continues to impress us with its customizable lenses, affordability, and massive product selection—the brand carries over 3,000 different frames to help you switch up your look on a budget all year round.

What do blue light glasses do?

Blue light glasses have special lenses that are designed to absorb blue light before it reaches the eyes. Some glasses use yellow-tinted lenses to counteract the blue, while other lenses modify light’s color temperature by other means.

Do blue light glasses work?

While blue light blocking glasses are effective at reducing the amount of blue light that goes into the eyes, there remains no scientific evidence that wearing blue light glasses can improve eye health or help with headache-inducing eye strain. Experts recommend shutting down your screens at least an hour before you go to sleep, and resting your eyes frequently during long periods of computer use, reading, or other activities that may strain your eyes.
