Bridge

From Wikiquote
When times get rough and friends just can't be found … like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down... ~ Paul Simon

A bridge is a structure built to span physical obstacles such as a body of water, valley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. There are many different designs that all serve unique purposes and apply to different situations. Metaphorically the word is used to indicate means of providing connections, communication, transportation or transformation from various states or positions to others.

Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • I know it works for me.
As we cross the bridge — the burning bridge —
    With flames behind us,
    We front the line.
It's you and me, baby, against the world.
