The present book includes extended and revised versions of a set of selected papers from the 16th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics (ICINCO 2019), held in Prague, Czech Republic, from July 29 to 31, 2019. The purpose of the 16th edition of this annual conference is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the application of informatics to control, automation and robotics. Four simultaneous tracks were held, covering intelligent control systems, optimization, robotics, automation, signal processing, sensors, systems modeling and control, and industrial informatics. Informatics applications are pervasive in many areas of control, automation and robotics. ICINCO 2019 received 213 paper submissions from 44 countries of which 5% were included in this book. The papers were selected by the event chairs, and their selection is based on a number of criteria that include the classifications and comments provided by the program committee members, the session chairs’ assessment and also the program chairs’ global view of all papers included in the technical program. The authors of selected papers were then invited to submit a revised and extended version of their papers having at least 30% innovative material. The selection has also followed the ambition of an equilibrate highlight of the four aforementioned conference’s tracks. We would like to thank all the authors for their contributions and to express our gratitude to the reviewers who have helped to ensure the quality of this post-conference publication.
