ecoSPIRITS has secured USD 3 million in trade finance facilities from Singapore-based DBS Bank. Last week, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) came into force, as part of the EU's Circular Economy Action Plan. This means the EU will introduce design requirements for several categories, with the aim of ensuring products last longer, use less energy, can be easily reused or recycled, and have a smaller environmental footprint. At ecoSPIRITS, we have always believed in a design-first approach to product development and so this bold step by the EU is an important one. Proof & Company has launched distribution of seven craft spirits from Husk Distillers' portfolio in ecoTOTE format across Australia. Husk Distillers, which recently joined Proof & Company's stable of distribution brands, is known for its 'farm to bottle' philosophy and passion for sustainability, and is the producer of the popular brands Ink Gin and Husk Rum. "Disruptive innovation at scale" – as described here by Diageo's President, Global Supply Chain & Procurement, Ewan Andrew – neatly summarises Diageo's plans to distribute several of its spirits brands in circular spirits packaging to an expected 18 markets over the next three years. Iconic brands such as Smirnoff, Gordon's, Captain Morgan and Ketel One, will be distributed in ecoTOTE™ format to venues in Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Dominican Republic, and more. This move is a powerful statement, and hopefully one which will raise greater awareness of the problem of single use glass waste in the hospitality sector and beyond. Here's a great example of a sustainable venue. Not only is it the world's highest urban microbrewery, but the team at Singapore's LeVeL33 Pte Ltd make a huge effort to minimise its impacts, while still providing an outstanding experience. Founder, Dr. Martin Bém, appointed Faizal Wahab as its Sustainability Officer and Wahab, along with the venue's bar manager, Thomas Sobota, made the decision to take delivery of several spirits in ecoTOTE format. Thank you, Pernod Ricard, for inviting ecoSPIRITS Global Customer Success Manager, Solène Marie, to take part in your Responsib’All Day activities in Cuba. The Responsib’All Day initiative takes place annually involving all Pernod Ricard employees across the globe and this year’s event, on June 20th, was dedicated to circular initiatives. In Cuba, the team celebrated the day at Havana Club’s San José distillery, which included a visit to the ecoPLANT.
