We had the pleasure of hearing from Naohiro Mouri, CPA, CIA, Chairman of The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. International Internal Audit Standards Board and Executive Vice President and Chief Auditor at AIG, who shared invaluable insights into the new Global Internal Audit Standards and how they could enhance organisational performance. He provided a candid perspective on the challenges of establishing these Standards, particularly with the 19,000 responses received for the Standards exposure draft. His discussion covered key topics such as cybersecurity, technology, culture audits, and other critical areas, offering a wealth of knowledge that was both enlightening and impactful. The event wasn't just about learning—it was also about connecting! The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Singapore President Stephen Ching and Executive Director Richard Christopher Dyason recently attended the ACIIA Business Meeting and ACIIA Regional Conference hosted by Institute of Internal Auditors Indonesia in Bali from 28 to 29 August 2024. Stephen contributed as a speaker on two critical topics: Auditing Culture and the Role of Internal Audit in Overseeing the Optimisation of Public Services. His contributions highlighted the importance of internal auditors in providing independent assurance and advisory services on organisational culture and the optimisation of public services, consistent with the focus outlined in the new Global Internal Audit Standards. The event also provided valuable networking opportunities, where Stephen and Richard connected with industry leaders, including Sally-Anne Pitt, Immediate Past Chair of the IIA Global Board and Managing Director of Pitt Group, and Naohiro Mouri, CPA, CIA, Chairman of the IIA International Internal Audit Standards Board and Executive Vice President and Chief Auditor at AIG.
