Fantasy baseball buy-low candidates ready for a second half surge

Yahoo Fantasy analysts Scott Pianowski and Dalton Del Don offer up a few player to target in midseason trades that could pay off down the stretch.

Yahoo Fantasy baseball.

You get Scott POWs, Dalton, Del Don, trying to find some bilo candidates.

It's trading season and Fantasy Dalton, who's a hitter who might be undervalued right now.

Well, there's no question, Julio Rodriguez has been a major disappointment.

He was drafted top five in most Fantasy leagues, but ranked outside the top 150 before Tuesday's big game.

Uh, but his contact metrics aren't far off his career marks and his expected batting average is actually his highest ever.

Rodriguez also just appears to be a second half player.

He's posted seven, a 730 op Ss before the all star break compared to 9, 39 afterward throughout his career.

He totaled 34 homers and steals over just 289 at bats after the all star break last season and he's still just 23 years old.

Rodriguez is prime for another second half surge this year.

Yeah, I think he's a great target although second half players aren't something that overall, I look at that closely.

Alex Bregman is another player who has a profile of hitting better in the second half.

I think maybe you could get him under market right now.

Let's give you a pitcher who's got my attention.

Justin Seals, the R A is under three.

His whip is under one.

That's excellent.

How does he have one win in 13 starts?

Well, the Chicago bullpen has been terrible.

The offense has been a little bit underwhelming.

I think the offense will eventually come around.

I don't know if they'll fix this bullpen, but I've seen some ranking lists that have steal like sp 25 or sp 30 the rest of the way.

That's wrong.

He's gonna be a top 20 starter the rest of the season if you can get him at that market price that I'm seeing, I think he's a perfect target if you're looking to bolster that staff for the second half and the Cubs will probably be quasi contenders.

So I don't see any reason why Steel would have an innings pitched number that he has to worry about.

I think he pitches the rest of the season and he'll just with regular luck, could easily win six or eight games in the second half.

Uh, Dalton, give me a closer who might be a good target right now.

Josh Hater has given up four homers over his last seven appearances, which is more than he allowed all of last season.

He has five losses, a modest 16 saves after being taken as the second reliever off the board in most fantasy drafts.

But Hater's 4.05.

Er, a comes with a 1.99 Sierra, that's his best mark in five years.

His K minus walk percentage ranks top three among 100 and 85 qualified relievers.

Hader has 63 strikeouts over 40 innings and his homers allowed will simply regress.

Houston should also provide more save opportunities moving forward.

So hater is a strong by low candidate right now.

Yeah, I love that a lot of times it's a matter of who's just run unlucky with save opportunities on the winning team and Houston has righted the ship.

They will be in the playoffs again this year, even if they don't win the A L West.

I think it's a nice time to get in on hater talk about one of the worst teams in the American League.

It's Oakland.

We don't know where they're playing in the next few years.

The park is kind of a joke, but Zach Goff is not a joke.

Now, his slash is ugly right now.

This is a case of you don't look at the full picture.

I want you to look at what he's done lately.

He's got 10 home runs, he's got 11 stolen bases in 71 games that plays in the last two weeks.

His slash has been excellent.

3023, 8512.

No, the athletics don't have nine good hitters, I think three or four good hitters.

I think Gello will eventually be at the top of that lineup.

Again, he was a really useful fantasy player at the end of 2023.

If your opponents are overreacting to the full picture here and they don't see the comeback that Goff is put together.

Recently, the category juice will play.

Sometimes it's hard to find a quality player at second base.

Ignore the surroundings here.

Zach Gello can get you into the fantasy winner circle in the second half.

I want you to look into a trade right now.
