Midseason pickups and stashes for fantasy baseball managers

Yahoo Fantasy analysts Scott Pianowski and Dalton Del Don look to the waiver wire and see who might pay off in the second half of the 2024 fantasy baseball season.

Video Transcript

Yahoo Fantasy baseball middle of the season, you need a little bit of roster, fresh paint DD down Scott POWs.

You gonna help you with just that some players who we think you can pick up now, who could definitely spike in the second half?

Dalton, I could use some outfield help.

What do you got for me?

Peston Kerst, dad's playing time remains uncertain in a crowded Baltimore outfield, but the number two pick in the 2020 draft would be worth adding in all Fantasy leagues.

Should he secure an everyday role?

And he is getting closer there starting more often than not lately.

Kerst has a 169 WRC plus with the Orioles after raking in AAA this season, he does struggle with strikeouts but he also leads all hitters and average exit velocity over the last two weeks.

Oriole Park has increased home runs for left-handed batters by a whopping 31% this year.

So Kerst could emerge as a true fantasy difference maker in the second half.

So much exciting young talent on the Baltimore roster.

I wouldn't say it's exactly the same in Detroit, but I'm very excited about Colt Keith who's rostered about one third of Yahoo leagues right now.

They bought out his arbitration years before the season.

So they weren't going to play any of this service time, Chicanery and he's really coming into his own over the last 42 games since Ops is eight thirties hit eight home runs a couple of stolen bases and he's percolated to the top of that lineup.

He's batting second right now.

I think he's eventually going to be a 25 or 30 home run player year over year, second base and third base eligible.

Let's get to work on his tag.

I think he's gonna be on a lot of fantasy pennant winners in the second half.

Uh Dalton, you have a picture of interest that we can add.

Yeah, Ricky Tiedeman is a much deeper stash who will require some patience as he's continued to battle injuries this season, but he's also one of the best pitching prospects in baseball.

Tiedeman looked healthy while dominating his last two rehab outings racking up strikeouts as usual.

He should move back to AAA soon and then make his eventual debut with the Blue Jays later this summer.

Tiedeman does have health questions but his stuff is absolutely legit.

He's widely available in Yahoo leagues and Tiedeman could make a real impact as soon as he's called up in Toronto, definitely have some Tiedeman interest here pitching in a pitcher park of Toronto.

And anytime you have those young pitchers who can get strikeouts right away, that makes them fantasy viable.

My final ad is Leo Tavares of the Rangers and kind of a boring veteran now, but he was a 14 homer, 14 steel player last year.

He's running this season.

He hit a few home runs has plus defense which marks his territory in the lineup.

I know the Rangers might have a tear down going on at the moment.

That's going to be mostly the pitching that they're looking to shop.

This is still going to be a plus lineup.

So Leo Tavares, I think is going to be maybe a top 35 top 40 outfielder rest of the year, only 10% roster in Yahoo.

See if you can get your hands on him.
