MLB mock draft 2024: Arizona Diamondbacks pick projections for first-round of MLB Draft

The first round of the 2024 MLB Draft is Sunday, July 14, and the Arizona Diamondbacks currently have three picks in the first 35 selections of the draft.

Arizona is first scheduled to make the No. 29 selection in the first round after finishing as the National League champion last season.

The Diamondbacks also have the No. 31 pick thanks to Corbin Carroll winning Rookie of the Year last season and the No. 35 pick as a competitive balance selection.

What will the DBacks do with those selections?

Check out what some recent 2024 MLB mock drafts project for Arizona in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Projections for Diamondbacks' pick at No. 29 in 2024 MLB Draft:

MLB.com: Diamondbacks select Stanford catcher Malcolm Moore

Jonathan Mayo writes: "The D-backs have a lot of picks coming up here and can mix and match how they please. Left-handed-hitting catchers are often a hot commodity and Moore’s name does pop up all over the end of the first round and sandwich round."

Bleacher Report: Diamondbacks take Tennessee 3B Billy Amick

Joel Reuter writes: "The D-backs have picks at No. 29, No. 31 and No. 35 overall, so it will be interesting to see how they approach mixing and matching college players and above-slot high schoolers who have slipped out of the first round. Amick hit .306/.387/.639 with 23 home runs and 65 RBI this spring, and he fits the profile of a productive, high-floor college bat who might sign for a bit below slot value. Prep shortstop Kellon Lindsey has been a popular name at No. 31 overall, but he could also be the pick here if they are not confident they can sneak him past the Rangers."

CBS Sports: Diamondbacks draft Texas high school infielder Theo Gillen

Mike Axisa writes: "Beginning here at No. 29, the D-backs have three of the next seven picks -- also No. 31 (Prospect Promotion Incentive pick for Corbin Carroll winning NL Rookie of the Year) and No. 35 (competitive balance) -- and thus a huge bonus pool to play with. That gives them the option to play it conservative here and spend later, or to spend now to get their guy. In our mock draft, we're betting Arizona will do the former, and jump on Gillen. His bat is top 10 worthy, though a series of injuries, including a torn labrum as a sophomore, give some teams pause. The D-backs can shoot for the moon with Gillem here and then balance the risk at No. 31 and 35."

USA TODAY Sports: Diamondbacks choose Arkansas high school outfielder Slade Caldwell

Gabe Lacques writes: "Caldwell offers bat speed and athleticism and Amick brings power from the plate for Arizona. Moore is another top catcher prospect in the class thanks mostly to his impressive metrics and raw stats from the plate. His defense is concerning, though, and he may need to move to first base. Lindsey is a plus athlete who is developing at the plate to pair with solid defense at shortstop."

Pitcher List: Diamondbacks go with Florida high school shortstop Kellon Lindsey

Trevor Powers writes: "The Diamondbacks love their athletes. Kellon Lindsey is one of the best in the class. His best tool is his 80-grade speed that translates into games. The Florida native just recently decided to focus on baseball instead of football, and that has led to him being one of the quickest risers in the class. The hit tool is ahead of his power by a decent margin, but that could come with physical and mental development. He is new to just focusing on baseball, so the sky is the limit for what he can continue to grow into. Arizona has shown an affinity for guys who can run, and Lindsey definitely can run. Their development will be tested but Lindsey feels like a Diamondback."
