Rehabbing Pirates pitchers Bednar, Borucki help Curve shut out Baysox

ALTOONA – Rehabbing Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers David Bednar and Ryan Borucki combined to throw 2 2/3 scoreless innings as the Altoona Curve, the Pirates’ Double-A affiliate, shut out the Bowie Baysox, 4-0, Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Starter Bubba Chandler dominated through two innings, then the Curve bullpen took over and stifled the Baysox offense the rest of the way. Borucki threw 14 pitches and Bednar threw 17.

Altoona’s Charles McAdoo singled home Tres Gonzalez in the third inning, and Tsung-Che Cheng hit a three-run homer in the seventh, his ninth of the season. Yoyner Fajardo had a hit and a walk, extending his on-base streak to 21 games.
