Why Holland Christian's Camryn VandenBosch chose Toledo for basketball

Camryn VandenBosch has been a player full of potential.

The Holland Christian soon-to-be senior was on the varsity basketball team as a freshman and has shined on the club scene as well.

After many offers and looks by different colleges, VandenBosch made her decision and committed to the University of Toledo this week.

"I chose Toledo because of their winning team culture and the amazing coaching staff," VandenBosch said. "Coach (Ginny) Boggess and the entire coaching staff was so supportive of me during this recruiting process and really show me how I can fit into their program."

The Maroons like to run and that will be what she expects at the NCAA Division I level.

"They play up-tempo and that is a great fit for my skill set," VandenBosch said. "I also love the campus and academic support. Another thing that was important to me was community support for the program and they are ranked top 30 in attendance in the nation.

This opportunity means so much to me because I’ve dreamed of playing division 1 since I was a little girl. So to finally accomplish this goal of mine is the best feeling and I can’t wait to keep working and I’m so grateful for the chance to play at a high-level."

Last season, VandenBosch was all-conference in the OK Blue and averaged 11.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.

She made 124 3-pointers in her high school career with one year to go. She is looking to take that success to the next level.

"I hope to have a positive impact on the court and in the community using the gifts God gave me for his glory," VandenBosch said. "And I definitely want to win more MAC titles and make it to the NCAA tournament."
