Rojas is now using a variation of his two-strike swing for every pitch on a recommendation from Trea Turner, reports, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Turner noted during camp that the young outfielder was "holding his mechanics better" in a two-strike approach and encouraged Rojas to broaden the usage of that swing. Rojas struggled during spring training with a .478 OPS, but the coaching staff was encouraged by his mechanical progress. The 23-year-old will begin the campaign as Philadelphia's primary center fielder, and it will be difficult to live up to the .302/.342/.430 slash line he posted in 59 games as a rookie last year.

Soto began implementing a slower slider early in the season and is now using two variations of the pitch, reports Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The left-hander had a 4.62 ERA during his first campaign with Philly last year, and he struggled early in 2024 with nine earned runs allowed in his first 14 outings. Thanks in part to the slider adjustments, Soto has a 1.42 ERA in his past 22 outings, though he also has a worrisome 4.7 BB/9 during that stretch. He has two saves and five holds this season and shouldn't be in the mix for saves as Jose Alvarado and Jeff Hoffman have pitched well as co-closers.
Harper, who is on the injured list with a hamstring strain, was named the National League Player of the Month for June on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old landed on the injured list June 28 with the low-grade strain, but it didn't prevent him from earning Player of the Month for the second straight month. Harper finished June on a 12-game hit streak and totaled 10 doubles, seven homers, 16 RBI and 20 runs with a .374/.452/.714 slash line in 23 games during the month. He'll be eligible to return from the injured list early next week.
Sanchez was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for June on Wednesday.
The left-hander finished the month with a 3-0 record and a 1.64 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 33 innings. Sanchez closed out especially strong with 16 straight scoreless innings, including a complete-game shutout June 28 against the Marlins. He has a 2.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB through 16 starts this season and has helped cement Philadelphia's rotation as one of the best in MLB.
Dahl is currently filling the strong side of a platoon in left field for the Phillies, but he could lose his roster spot once Kody Clemens returns from his back injury, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Dahl made a strong impression after being promoted from Triple-A in early June with two homers and two doubles in his first five games, but he's now in the midst of a 1-for-18 slump. The demotion of Johan Rojas this week should give Dahl plenty of chances to turn things around in the immediate future, but if the struggles continue his roster spot could be in jeopardy once Clemens completes his minor-league rehab assignment.
Clemens could see regular action in left field once he returns from his back injury, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
The 28-year-old is set to begin a rehab assignment soon, which shouldn't be too lengthy since he's been on the injured list only since early June. Brandon Marsh is seeing more action in center field after Johan Rojas was demoted to the minors, and Clemens could have the chance to carve out a spot in the large side of a left-field platoon. David Dahl is currently filling that role but has a .182/.206/.424 slash line in 34 plate appearances.
According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Phillies manager Rob Thomson indicated Rojas is considered a piece of the club's ideal outfield alignment despite the demotion to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene in 2023 with 14 steals and a .772 OPS in 59 games while providing strong defense in center field, but his .235/.271/.295 slash line this season necessitated a change. The loss of J.T. Realmuto to a knee injury has Philadelphia prioritizing offense over defense in the outfield, and Brandon March will work as the primary center fielder versus right-handed pitching. Rojas has gone 5-for-13 with a homer in his first three games at Lehigh Valley, and he's a strong bet to rejoin the Phillies before long if he continues to show improvement at Triple-A.
The Phillies are mulling a demotion of Johan Rojas, which would lead to Dahl serving in the long side of a platoon in left field, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Dahl hit two home runs in his first three games with the Phillies. Although he's gone just 2-for-20 since then, the team has evidently seen enough that it is considering the possibility of using him and Whit Merrifield in a platoon in left. If that happens, Brandon Marsh would shift over to center field to platoon with Cristian Pache.
The Phillies have discussed demoting Rojas to Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to Monday's game against the Padres, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Trea Turner is set to return from his hamstring injury, and Rojas could be the corresponding roster move. Rojas has never found his footing offensively, slashing just .235/.271/.295 over 58 games. He's also made numerous baserunning mistakes, and his defense has been more above average than the elite that was expected. Rojas also has minor-league options remaining, while David Dahl and Cristian Pache do not. If Rojas is indeed sent down, Philadelphia would use platoons of Brandon Marsh and Pache in center field and Dahl and Whit Merrifield in left.

Wheeler is off to a strong start in 2024 with a 2.53 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB over 53.1 innings, which helped him secure first-place votes from 19 of 41 respondents in the poll. The veteran right-hander has been arguably the most reliable ace in baseball since he signed with the Phillies in 2020, with a 3.02 ERA in 110 starts. He won't be going anywhere anytime soon after he inked a three-year, $126 million extension with Philadelphia in March.
According to Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Schwarber is advancing an extra base 53 percent of the time this season compared to 30 percent in 2023.
The 31-year-old has been more active on the basepaths early in 2024, as he also has two steals after not recording a theft on two attempts last season. Schwarber still isn't making consistent contact with a .211 batting average and 32.4 percent strikeout rate through 38 games, and he has just one extra-base hit other than his nine homers. The veteran slugger has more or less provided what fantasy managers have expected so far this season, but his 55.3 percent hard-hit rate would be a career high and suggests some better results could be on the horizon.

Bohm was already on an upward trajectory after he clubbed 20 homers with a .764 OPS last season, but he's really taken off early in 2024 with a .346/.413/.549 slash line through 37 games. The 27-year-old is making $4 million in his first year of arbitration eligibility this season and won't be eligible for free agency until 2027, so there isn't much urgency for a deal to be reached.

The left-hander posted a 4.18 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 125 innings last season and didn't open 2024 as a strong extension candidate, but he's been dominant through seven starts with a 1.72 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 46:6 K:BB over 47 innings. Suarez will have his final year of arbitration eligibility in 2025, so the Phillies could look to extend him prior to a contract year. The 28-year-old may also be interested in an extension sooner rather than later given he's never reached 160 frames in a season during his big-league career.

The 27-year-old went 1-for-4 Tuesday versus the Angels to extend his hit streak to 14 games, and he has a 1.372 OPS during that span. Bohm was a solid lineup piece for Philadelphia over the previous two campaigns with a .738 OPS, but his strong start to 2024 puts him in strong position for a full breakout.
According to Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Miller tweaked his swing setup during the offseason in an attempt to be more consistent against fastballs.
The 27th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Miller played in 20 games between rookie ball and Single-A Clearwater last season. Miller has enjoyed a strong start to his first full professional season in 2024, as he has a .327/.379/.519 slash line with two homers and six steals through 12 games. The 19-year-old is a couple years away from potentially seeing the majors but is already arguably Philadelphia's top prospect.
Turnbull could be an option to start Tuesday against the Angels, according to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
The right-hander was set to shift to the bullpen due to Taijuan Walker returning from the injured list for his season debut Sunday, but it appears Turnbull may receive another start. The 31-year-old has certainly earned the opportunity, as he has a 1.33 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB across 27 frames in five starts this season. Turnbull could receive more consistent starting chances of the Phillies shift to a six-man rotation, but that's not likely in the immediate future with scheduled off days each of the next two Thursdays.
Schwarber has a .361/.465/.528 slash line with two homers in 43 plate appearances against left-handed pitching this season.
Schwarber had a solid .758 OPS against lefties last season, which was nearly 90 points lower than his OPS versus righties. That script has flipped early in 2024, as the veteran slugger is hitting just .087 through 50 plate appearances against righties. The combined result is a .691 OPS through 21 games for Schwarber, but he should be due for a big turnaround if he can rebound versus right-handers while maintaining the success against southpaws.
Stott has a .618 OPS through 19 games this season, but he recently evaluated his swing and will stay the course since he liked what he saw on video, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Stott apparently compared video of his current swing to his stroke from early last year, when he started the campaign with a 17-game hit streak, and saw minimal differences, so he won't be making any swing tweaks just yet. The 26-year-old has particularly struggled on the road early in 2024 with a .461 OPS in six away games compared to a .700 OPS in 13 contests at Citizens Bank Park. Stott entered the season carrying high expectations after he hit .280 with 15 homers and 31 steals in 2023.
Turnbull could be moved back to the bullpen sooner than expected with Taijuan Walker potentially returning from his shoulder injury next week, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Walker was originally expected to require at least three or four rehab outings, but the veteran right-hander now appears ready to go after just two starts in the minors. That will likely shorten Turnbull's time in the rotation despite his 1.80 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through three starts. The 31-year-old will receive more starting chances at some point this season, either as an injury replacement or because Philadelphia shifts to a six-man rotation. For now, though, it appears he'll soon be headed back to a relief role.
Kerkering noted Friday that he's been getting a better feel for his two-seam fastball during his rehab assignment, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Kerkering said that his time in the minors and "seeing different hitters and seeing what they do" has helped him figure out how to better use his two-seamer. He started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a right forearm strain and a bad case of the flu that kept him from pitching in Grapefruit League games after March 1. In his latest outing with Single-A Fort Myers, Kerkering pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, and he is expected to return to the Phillies' bullpen this weekend. The 23-year-old has the makings of a future closer.
Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia speculates Stubbs will start behind the plate Monday against the Cardinals.
The 30-year-old backstop made his first start of the season April 2 as he caught for Spencer Turnbull, and Seidman believes Stubbs will catch for Turnbull again on Monday. The Phillies seem unlikely to officially designated Stubbs as Turnbull's personal catcher, but it could be an avenue to provide starter J.T. Realmuto more regular rest in his age-33 campaign. Stubbs has a .633 OPS across 139 big-league games in his career, so there would be minimal fantasy appeal as a streaming option.
Manager Rob Thomson said Saturday the organization expects Marsh to " at some point be an everyday guy," per Matt Gelb of The Athletic, but the outfielder has sat against two of the first three left-handed starting pitchers the Phillies have faced this season.
Marsh enjoyed a strong first full season in Philadelphia during 2023 with a .277/.372/.458 slash line in 133 games, but it appears he's in a platoon to begin 2024. The 26-year-old certainly fared better against righties last year with an .864 OPS, but his .717 OPS in 110 plate appearances versus lefties was respectable and marked a significant improvement from 2022. Marsh isn't a big power or speed threat -- he totaled 12 homers and 10 steals last season -- but adding more volume by escaping the platoon would certainly make his fantasy outlook more palatable, though that doesn't appear to be on the immediate horizon.
Rojas is now using a variation of his two-strike swing for every pitch on a recommendation from Trea Turner, reports, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Turner noted during camp that the young outfielder was "holding his mechanics better" in a two-strike approach and encouraged Rojas to broaden the usage of that swing. Rojas struggled during spring training with a .478 OPS, but the coaching staff was encouraged by his mechanical progress. The 23-year-old will begin the campaign as Philadelphia's primary center fielder, and it will be difficult to live up to the .302/.342/.430 slash line he posted in 59 games as a rookie last year.

The left-hander had a 4.62 ERA during his first campaign with Philly last year, and he struggled early in 2024 with nine earned runs allowed in his first 14 outings. Thanks in part to the slider adjustments, Soto has a 1.42 ERA in his past 22 outings, though he also has a worrisome 4.7 BB/9 during that stretch. He has two saves and five holds this season and shouldn't be in the mix for saves as Jose Alvarado and Jeff Hoffman have pitched well as co-closers.
Harper, who is on the injured list with a hamstring strain, was named the National League Player of the Month for June on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old landed on the injured list June 28 with the low-grade strain, but it didn't prevent him from earning Player of the Month for the second straight month. Harper finished June on a 12-game hit streak and totaled 10 doubles, seven homers, 16 RBI and 20 runs with a .374/.452/.714 slash line in 23 games during the month. He'll be eligible to return from the injured list early next week.
Sanchez was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for June on Wednesday.
The left-hander finished the month with a 3-0 record and a 1.64 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 33 innings. Sanchez closed out especially strong with 16 straight scoreless innings, including a complete-game shutout June 28 against the Marlins. He has a 2.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB through 16 starts this season and has helped cement Philadelphia's rotation as one of the best in MLB.
Dahl is currently filling the strong side of a platoon in left field for the Phillies, but he could lose his roster spot once Kody Clemens returns from his back injury, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Dahl made a strong impression after being promoted from Triple-A in early June with two homers and two doubles in his first five games, but he's now in the midst of a 1-for-18 slump. The demotion of Johan Rojas this week should give Dahl plenty of chances to turn things around in the immediate future, but if the struggles continue his roster spot could be in jeopardy once Clemens completes his minor-league rehab assignment.
Clemens could see regular action in left field once he returns from his back injury, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
The 28-year-old is set to begin a rehab assignment soon, which shouldn't be too lengthy since he's been on the injured list only since early June. Brandon Marsh is seeing more action in center field after Johan Rojas was demoted to the minors, and Clemens could have the chance to carve out a spot in the large side of a left-field platoon. David Dahl is currently filling that role but has a .182/.206/.424 slash line in 34 plate appearances.
According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Phillies manager Rob Thomson indicated Rojas is considered a piece of the club's ideal outfield alignment despite the demotion to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene in 2023 with 14 steals and a .772 OPS in 59 games while providing strong defense in center field, but his .235/.271/.295 slash line this season necessitated a change. The loss of J.T. Realmuto to a knee injury has Philadelphia prioritizing offense over defense in the outfield, and Brandon March will work as the primary center fielder versus right-handed pitching. Rojas has gone 5-for-13 with a homer in his first three games at Lehigh Valley, and he's a strong bet to rejoin the Phillies before long if he continues to show improvement at Triple-A.

Dahl hit two home runs in his first three games with the Phillies. Although he's gone just 2-for-20 since then, the team has evidently seen enough that it is considering the possibility of using him and Whit Merrifield in a platoon in left. If that happens, Brandon Marsh would shift over to center field to platoon with Cristian Pache.
The Phillies have discussed demoting Rojas to Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to Monday's game against the Padres, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Trea Turner is set to return from his hamstring injury, and Rojas could be the corresponding roster move. Rojas has never found his footing offensively, slashing just .235/.271/.295 over 58 games. He's also made numerous baserunning mistakes, and his defense has been more above average than the elite that was expected. Rojas also has minor-league options remaining, while David Dahl and Cristian Pache do not. If Rojas is indeed sent down, Philadelphia would use platoons of Brandon Marsh and Pache in center field and Dahl and Whit Merrifield in left.
Kingery has positioned himself to potentially be promoted by the Phillies with 13 homers and an .804 OPS in 54 games at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this year, per Adam Aaronson of The Philly Voice.
The 30-year-old inked a six-year, $24 million extension in March of 2018 prior to making his MLB debut, but he hasn't seen action in the majors since 2021. Kingery has a career .667 OPS in 325 big-league games, and he's found more power at Triple-A early in 2024, having already matched his homer total from last season. Philadelphia's poor injury luck would likely need to continue to get worse for Kingery to be promoted in the near future, but he's played well enough to put himself in consideration for a roster spot should the situation present itself.
The Phillies could consider trading Abel to improve the major-league roster this summer, reports Adam Aaronson of The Philly Voice.
Philadelphia has been reluctant to part with top prospects in recent years, but 2024 could be different with the club holding the best record in the National League. Abel has struggled at the Triple-A level this season with a 6.31 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 39:33 K:BB across 45.2 innings, so the Phillies wouldn't be selling high, but the 22-year-old could still turn things around ahead of the trade deadline.
The veteran slugger helped propel the Phillies into first place in the NL East with five doubles, seven homers, 24 RBI, 19 runs and a .990 OPS in 26 games during May. Harper is looking to reach the 30-homer mark for the first time since 2021 and is on a good pace with 14 long balls through Philadelphia's first 62 games.
Mercado has a 0.63 ERA over 28.2 innings at Lehigh Valley this season and could be called up for his MLB debut this summer, per Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The 25-year-old hasn't posted an ERA below 4.00 since rookie ball and wasn't considered a notable prospect when acquired by the Phillies in November, but he's put his best foot forward early in 2024. Mercado's 26:15 K:BB doesn't exactly match up with his elite run prevention this season, and some regression likely isn't far off. Still, the right-hander is already on the 40-man roster, so it's likely only a matter of time before he's called up for his MLB debut. The Phillies already have a sixth starter in Spencer Turnbull working out of the bullpen, so Mercado would likely be ticketed for long relief in the majors.
Wheeler was the top vote getter in the National League in MLB.com's latest poll for the Cy Young Award.
Wheeler is off to a strong start in 2024 with a 2.53 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB over 53.1 innings, which helped him secure first-place votes from 19 of 41 respondents in the poll. The veteran right-hander has been arguably the most reliable ace in baseball since he signed with the Phillies in 2020, with a 3.02 ERA in 110 starts. He won't be going anywhere anytime soon after he inked a three-year, $126 million extension with Philadelphia in March.
According to Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Schwarber is advancing an extra base 53 percent of the time this season compared to 30 percent in 2023.
The 31-year-old has been more active on the basepaths early in 2024, as he also has two steals after not recording a theft on two attempts last season. Schwarber still isn't making consistent contact with a .211 batting average and 32.4 percent strikeout rate through 38 games, and he has just one extra-base hit other than his nine homers. The veteran slugger has more or less provided what fantasy managers have expected so far this season, but his 55.3 percent hard-hit rate would be a career high and suggests some better results could be on the horizon.
Bohm is a "prime candidate" to sign a contract extension with the Phillies, per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Bohm was already on an upward trajectory after he clubbed 20 homers with a .764 OPS last season, but he's really taken off early in 2024 with a .346/.413/.549 slash line through 37 games. The 27-year-old is making $4 million in his first year of arbitration eligibility this season and won't be eligible for free agency until 2027, so there isn't much urgency for a deal to be reached.
Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer listed Suarez as a "prime candidate" to sign a contract extension with the Phillies.
The left-hander posted a 4.18 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 125 innings last season and didn't open 2024 as a strong extension candidate, but he's been dominant through seven starts with a 1.72 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 46:6 K:BB over 47 innings. Suarez will have his final year of arbitration eligibility in 2025, so the Phillies could look to extend him prior to a contract year. The 28-year-old may also be interested in an extension sooner rather than later given he's never reached 160 frames in a season during his big-league career.
Suarez was named the National League Pitcher of the Month for March/April on Friday.
The left-hander is Philadelphia's No. 3 starter behind Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola but has pitched like an ace through six starts in 2024 with a 1.32 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 40:5 K:BB over 41 innings. Suarez's 5-0 record already has him halfway toward his career high of 10 wins, which he set in 2022 and was accompanied by a 3.65 ERA in 29 outings.
Bohm collected a hit in all seven games during the week and went 17-for-30 with seven doubles, a homer, nine RBI and five runs. The 27-year-old went 1-for-4 Tuesday versus the Angels to extend his hit streak to 14 games, and he has a 1.372 OPS during that span. Bohm was a solid lineup piece for Philadelphia over the previous two campaigns with a .738 OPS, but his strong start to 2024 puts him in strong position for a full breakout.
According to Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Miller tweaked his swing setup during the offseason in an attempt to be more consistent against fastballs.
The 27th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Miller played in 20 games between rookie ball and Single-A Clearwater last season. Miller has enjoyed a strong start to his first full professional season in 2024, as he has a .327/.379/.519 slash line with two homers and six steals through 12 games. The 19-year-old is a couple years away from potentially seeing the majors but is already arguably Philadelphia's top prospect.
Turnbull could be an option to start Tuesday against the Angels, according to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
The right-hander was set to shift to the bullpen due to Taijuan Walker returning from the injured list for his season debut Sunday, but it appears Turnbull may receive another start. The 31-year-old has certainly earned the opportunity, as he has a 1.33 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB across 27 frames in five starts this season. Turnbull could receive more consistent starting chances of the Phillies shift to a six-man rotation, but that's not likely in the immediate future with scheduled off days each of the next two Thursdays.
Schwarber has a .361/.465/.528 slash line with two homers in 43 plate appearances against left-handed pitching this season.
Schwarber had a solid .758 OPS against lefties last season, which was nearly 90 points lower than his OPS versus righties. That script has flipped early in 2024, as the veteran slugger is hitting just .087 through 50 plate appearances against righties. The combined result is a .691 OPS through 21 games for Schwarber, but he should be due for a big turnaround if he can rebound versus right-handers while maintaining the success against southpaws.
Stott has a .618 OPS through 19 games this season, but he recently evaluated his swing and will stay the course since he liked what he saw on video, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Stott apparently compared video of his current swing to his stroke from early last year, when he started the campaign with a 17-game hit streak, and saw minimal differences, so he won't be making any swing tweaks just yet. The 26-year-old has particularly struggled on the road early in 2024 with a .461 OPS in six away games compared to a .700 OPS in 13 contests at Citizens Bank Park. Stott entered the season carrying high expectations after he hit .280 with 15 homers and 31 steals in 2023.
Turnbull could be moved back to the bullpen sooner than expected with Taijuan Walker potentially returning from his shoulder injury next week, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Walker was originally expected to require at least three or four rehab outings, but the veteran right-hander now appears ready to go after just two starts in the minors. That will likely shorten Turnbull's time in the rotation despite his 1.80 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB through three starts. The 31-year-old will receive more starting chances at some point this season, either as an injury replacement or because Philadelphia shifts to a six-man rotation. For now, though, it appears he'll soon be headed back to a relief role.
Kerkering noted Friday that he's been getting a better feel for his two-seam fastball during his rehab assignment, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Kerkering said that his time in the minors and "seeing different hitters and seeing what they do" has helped him figure out how to better use his two-seamer. He started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a right forearm strain and a bad case of the flu that kept him from pitching in Grapefruit League games after March 1. In his latest outing with Single-A Fort Myers, Kerkering pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, and he is expected to return to the Phillies' bullpen this weekend. The 23-year-old has the makings of a future closer.
Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia speculates Stubbs will start behind the plate Monday against the Cardinals.
The 30-year-old backstop made his first start of the season April 2 as he caught for Spencer Turnbull, and Seidman believes Stubbs will catch for Turnbull again on Monday. The Phillies seem unlikely to officially designated Stubbs as Turnbull's personal catcher, but it could be an avenue to provide starter J.T. Realmuto more regular rest in his age-33 campaign. Stubbs has a .633 OPS across 139 big-league games in his career, so there would be minimal fantasy appeal as a streaming option.
Manager Rob Thomson said Saturday the organization expects Marsh to " at some point be an everyday guy," per Matt Gelb of The Athletic, but the outfielder has sat against two of the first three left-handed starting pitchers the Phillies have faced this season.
Marsh enjoyed a strong first full season in Philadelphia during 2023 with a .277/.372/.458 slash line in 133 games, but it appears he's in a platoon to begin 2024. The 26-year-old certainly fared better against righties last year with an .864 OPS, but his .717 OPS in 110 plate appearances versus lefties was respectable and marked a significant improvement from 2022. Marsh isn't a big power or speed threat -- he totaled 12 homers and 10 steals last season -- but adding more volume by escaping the platoon would certainly make his fantasy outlook more palatable, though that doesn't appear to be on the immediate horizon.
Rojas is now using a variation of his two-strike swing for every pitch on a recommendation from Trea Turner, reports, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Turner noted during camp that the young outfielder was "holding his mechanics better" in a two-strike approach and encouraged Rojas to broaden the usage of that swing. Rojas struggled during spring training with a .478 OPS, but the coaching staff was encouraged by his mechanical progress. The 23-year-old will begin the campaign as Philadelphia's primary center fielder, and it will be difficult to live up to the .302/.342/.430 slash line he posted in 59 games as a rookie last year.
