This article is for teachers.
If you use Classroom with Google Workspace for Education, you can connect Classroom to your SIS. After your administrator configures the connection, you can link your classes and use SIS integration features like importing student rosters and exporting grades to SIS. Import grading categories
To use the SIS integration features, all teachers must have one of the following:
- A Google Workspace for Education Plus license
- A G Suite Enterprise for Education license
- A Teaching and Learning Upgrade license
Starting July 9, 2024, you must have one of these licenses in order to use the grade export feature.
Important: SIS integration is available with numerous partners. Other SIS partnerships are in development. Learn about SIS integration partnership status.
Import data from your SIS
Import student rosters & co-teachersEducators can now easily import student and teacher email addresses from their SIS to Google Classroom. This integration saves educators time and makes class setup much quicker.
Import email addresses
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click the class you want to invite students to.
- At the top, click People.
- Next to the "Teachers" or "Students" section, click Invite
.
- Click Import from SIS.
- Tip: If “Import from SIS” isn’t available:
- Your Classroom admin hasn’t connected Classroom to SIS and approved importing and exporting data. Contact your Classroom admin to configure the integration. Learn how to connect Classroom to SIS.
- The district doesn’t have the right type of license.
- The license is not assigned to this teacher.
- Tip: If “Import from SIS” isn’t available:
- If you haven’t linked your class with the SIS, you’ll be prompted to do so.
- Link class: Under "Link class", click the Down arrow
and choose your class from the menu.
- Tip: Only classes that list you as the primary teacher in the SIS appear in the menu. If you don’t find your class, go to Troubleshoot SIS integration.
- Click Link.
- Link class: Under "Link class", click the Down arrow
- The import begins and the list of students or teachers associated with your class appears.
- Click Invite.
- Go to classroom.google.com.
- Click the class you want to import grading categories to.
- Click Class

- Next to “Grading Categories,” click Import from SIS.
- Tip: If “Import from SIS” isn’t available:
