Green Week empowers the Trojan community to engage in sustainability-focused behaviors and activities. 

Want to learn how to live more sustainably, or check out USC’s progress in achieving our sustainability goals? Green Week offers plenty of opportunities to make connections, attend events and learn more about advancing sustainability on our campuses.

Green Week is just one of the many initiatives that support Assignment: Earth, USC’s sustainability framework for creating a healthy, just and thriving campus and world.

Six Sustainable Actions for Sustainability

Here’s how you can take action and help the USC community develop and implement innovative solutions that will build a more sustainable society.

Start your journey with these six sustainable actions:

1. Complete the online Sustainability Training

Explore the steps USC is taking towards becoming a greener campus and learn how you can help.

2. Visit the Sustainability Hub in STU 101

Lounge, study, and connect with the campus sustainability community.

3. Carry a reusable water bottle

Refill it at 200+ campus hydration stations.

4. Get the Supdate

Join the Supdate Slack workspace to donate/swap items, learn about upcoming events, find jobs/internships and more.

5. Receive discounts on public transportation

Enroll in the USC Student U-Pass Program or Employee Transit Subsidy to green your commute.

6. Sort your trash at a nearby zero-waste bin

Help USC keep recyclable and compostable waste out of local landfills.

Take the Sustainability Training

Student Sustainability Training

Take an active role in advancing sustainability at USC by adopting sustainable behaviors in your daily life! The Student Sustainability Training is a collaborative effort between the Office of Sustainability and campus partners.

Employee Sustainability Training

Explore how USC is achieving its sustainability goals and discover how to become a sustainable USC Employee! This online, two-part training is designed to engage you in sustainable practices both on and off campus.

Find Your Community and Apply for Funding

Undergraduate Sustainability Grand Challenge Fellowship Program (USGCF): The USGCF program will support multidisciplinary research projects focused on sustainability. Open to undergraduate students in all USC majors, the USGCF will contribute to extending to the larger USC community the values espoused by the Viterbi School of Engineering, the Price School of Public Policy, and the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges Scholars Program. The deadline to apply is September 9, 2023.

USC Arts and Climate Collective: Join a community of students who are passionate about using the arts, media, and culture to address environmental justice and climate change. The deadline to apply is September 22, 2024.

2023 C.A.R.E. Challenge Micro-Grants: The 2023 Community, Accessibility, Restoration and Ecology (C.A.R.E.) Challenge is a community call to action for a year-long series of programming of broad interests to foster contributions and engagement from our university community. The C.A.R.E. Challenge awards microgrants of $500 to $5,000 to organizations hosting university-wide events.

The Southern California Children’s Environmental Health Research Translation Center — 2024/2025 Pilot Projects: The Southern California Children’s Environmental Health Research Translation Center is pleased to announce its request for applications for 1-year pilot projects intended to promote children’s environmental health research translation.

Trojan Sustainability Network: The Trojan Sustainability Network (USC TSN) is committed to amplifying, educating, empowering, and inspiring sustainability across the USC community and beyond. USC TSN brings together sustainability professionals and those passionate about making an impact.

Postdoctoral Fellowships for Sustainability Solutions: The program aims to accelerate sustainability research; train future leaders in academia, government and non-governmental organizations, and industry; and support discovery, evaluation, and implementation of innovative solutions to sustainability problems.

USC Sustainability Hub: The Hub is a multi-use gathering space for the USC community to collaborate around sustainability solutions. It’s also the home of Assignment: Earth,  USC’s sustainability framework for a healthy, just and thriving campus and world.
