The Upper Valley Aquatic Center is seeking a Full Time Coach who can serve as either the Head Age Group Coach or as a Multi-Group Coach depending on skill set. We are a member of the New England Swimming LSC and operate our own 25y by 25m pool with 11scy lanes and upper deck bleacher seating for 400. The facility includes an updated gym plus specialized fitness rooms and classrooms which the team has full access to. We host multiple meets throughout the year.
Expected on-deck hours would likely be 3:45-7:15pm (depending on the day) during the week plus a Saturday practice, along with typical administrative tasks, including meet entries, registration, and assisting with running team hosted events. We also have a coaches office on the pool deck.
The facility is located about 10 minutes from Dartmouth college. Hanover is a vibrant college town, and surrounded by beautiful outdoor recreation opportunities along with some of the best skiing on the east coast. Boston is less than 2 hours away.
We are offering a competitive salary with benefits, and an opportunity for private lessons to bring in additional income.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead groups, as assigned, by the Head Coach.
  • Attend all swim meets for coached groups.
  • Occasionally, assist with the supervision of non-team UVAC meets such as college championships, Dartmouth Invite, VSA, and others.
  • Coach on deck for squad practices.
  • Maintain updated Team Unify rosters and registration.

Job Duties:

Coaching Responsibilities (40%)

Lead training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained. Perform specific coaching responsibilities during athletic events. Perform assigned responsibilities within the daily operations and overall administration of the sports program, as assigned by the Head Coach. This may include, but is not limited to, team travel arrangements, compliance administration, development of scouting reports, planning and execution of marketing and promotional activities, etc. Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and maintain a thorough and continuing familiarity with all applicable University and NCAA regulations

Recruiting (40%)

Scout and recruit quality student-athletes under the guidance and direction of the Head Coach. Student Athlete Services (20%)

Demonstrate an active interest in the academic progress of student-athletes. Work closely with all appropriate departmental personnel to assure academic success of student-athletes. Work with student-athletes to monitor adherence to rules and regulations regarding conduct, appearance, and behavior. Provide individual counseling to student-athletes when individual counseling to student-athletes when appropriate, and direct the student-athlete to professional staff when needed. Qualifications

Education and Certifications –A 4-year college degree is required.  ASCA level 3 or higher preferred.

Experience – Five or more years of competitive swimming coaching experience, YMCA experience a plus, with a background in supervising and developing swimmers, coaches, and volunteers.  Must be safe sport certified.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assists in directing the operation of the YSSC program, including coaching and training of swimmers, supervision of coaches, coordination of volunteers, and management of all aspects of meets.
  • Supports the mission of the YMCA through program, staff, and volunteer development and leadership.
  • Ensures all certifications are up to date for staff.
