“At the suggestion of Doc Leeper I attended the University of Florida from  1983-1988, graduating with Honors and earning a BFA. My concentration was in  Ceramics, Sculpture and Printmaking. In the years following I set up a jewelry  studio, creating one of a kind pieces. Simultaneously I returned UF to delve deeper into Printmaking. Two years of Post Baccalaureate work with Bob Mueller yielded an in-depth series celebrating the Panama Canal. Currently I work as an  X-Ray tech at ShandsUF. I make art and hang out with my dog Shadow in the time in between.

I think of the works as drawings. The Butterflies are Rorschach of dry white  acrylic paint. What is drawn is a response to the negative space, with inspiration  from flowers and nature. The repetitive lines to create a hum, like cicadas in  summer. The watercolors initially sought to repeat the butterfly theme but have  shifted to ideas about time and mortality. The loss of two dear friends shifting my  thoughts towards the eternal. The images from ancient art attempt to evoke  timelessness and try to create a vibration that is both calm and pulsing.”
