I received my Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Northeastern University in the fields of applied labor and health economics. My Ph.D. dissertation evaluates impacts of Turkey’s Family Medicine policy in terms of maternal and child health services utilization rates and outcomes. This evaluation will contribute to the strand of the health economics literature that assesses affordable access to primary care and its consequences for the well-being of adults and children, in the context of a developing country, which had regional gaps in access to health care prior to the policy reform, .
The second essay in my dissertation aims to identify the impact of state government regulations for child care center licensing on the demand for paid child care in the United States. There is a debate on the family economics and child care literature on underlying reasons for observing such high prices for paid child care in some states. My study will be a valuable contribution to this literature by pointing at the indirect effect of strict state regulations which might be driving children out of regulated care and affecting female labor supply as a consequence.
I received my B.A. in Economics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey.
Prior to Ph.D I worked as an online marketing specialist at a corporate global business setting.
Currently, I am living in İstanbul and multitasking by working on finalizing my dissertation as well as working as a consultant for building models to estimate store sales using my econometrics knowledge and Stata expertise.
