White Collar Trio Confirm Revival Involvement, Tout ‘Fantastic Script’
Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen have confirmed that they, too, are on board for the White Collar revival that Matt Bomer told TVLine about back in November.
Following years of revival hints and rumors, Bomer had shared with TVLine that there was “very legitimate talk” about bringing back the “blue sky” drama, which debuted on USA Network in October 2009 and ran for six seasons.
Bomer, who starred as con artist/thief/forger Neal Caffrey, went on to tell us that “a lot of things need to fall into place, but there is a plan in effect, at least, so we’ll see what happens.”
Some seven months later, during a 15th anniversary reunion panel held Thursday at our sister site Variety’s TV Fest, White Collar creator Jeff Eastin said that he was writing the script, after which Bomer, DeKay and Thiessen each raised their hands to say they were “in.”
Of course, sadly, the series’ fourth main cast member, Willie Garson, passed away in September 2021. But Bomer told TVLine last fall that the revival outline presented to them by Eastin “honors what [Willie] contributed to the show” as the character of Mozzie “and honors him as a person.
“There’s no way I would ever be involved with it again if it didn’t,” Bomer added. “So I think it’s a way for him to, in some ways, still be a part of the show.”
Thiessen echoed that thought at Thursday’s TV Fest, saying (per Variety) that the revival honors Garson “with such sensitivity and such heart.”
All told, “It’s a fantastic script,” DeKay said at TV Fest. “It answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show, and it would introduce the show to those who haven’t seen it as well.”
No outlet has been specified for the prospective revival, though the thinking is that, since White Collar was in fact a Fox Television Studios production, it will land at Hulu.

Mozzie (and Willie) will always be missed, though.
Well we know that Peter and Mrs. Suit called their son Neal so maybe Neal could have a son named Mozzie. Or Maybe the Burkes had another son that they named after Mozzie. Anything that remembers Willie Garson and the character he played nicely would make me very happy.
I am excited for the Suits spin-off but this is what the creators of that show should have done. Make it a revival bringing back as much of the original cast as they could. Heck, they could have even had Mike and Rachel get divorced to explain Meghans absence.
On the White Collar side, I am super pumped and really hope this happens.
I met the cast at an event back when the show was still on the air. Not Thiessen though. I think she had just had a kid. Anyway, they were all super nice, especially Mr. Garson. I only interacted with him for about a minute but 14 years later I still remember how warm and calm he was. Even in the hustle and bustle he just made me feel at ease.

This makes me SO HAPPY. Before White Collar was my COVID comfort show, it was a show that was part of why I fell in love with New York. Ive since moved and been here 7 years, and I’m so excited for the stories they’ll get to tell. Hopefully Marsha and Sharif are back too (ugh I miss Willie!) but we need Diana and Jones for sure.

This is an easy answer… Because there’s an automatic fan base.
They cancel everything that isn’t immediately a hit without giving it a chance to grow.
It feels like a lot of these shows start contemplating this *after* an important cast member dies :/

Glad to hear they’ll honour Moz properly, he was such a huge part of the show. We’ve also lost James Rebhorn and Diahann Carroll since the show went off the air.

Pretty much every revival like Will & Grace and especially Frasier have been disapointing at best but I’m optimistic for white collar fingers crossed
I’m going to have to disagree with you on that point. Will & Grace lasted 3 seasons and was hardly disappointing. The Conners just wrapped its 6th season. Frasier is rooted enough in its origins to make it feel right at home. Night Court is still Night Court, but I will admit I’m glad to see the Olivia character go.
In recent memory, the only revival I thought was disappointing was Murphy Brown.
Just because somthing goes for a few seasons dose not mean it’s good, as for Frasier all the wit and intelligence that the show had from the first episode is missing from the new series. So we will have agree to disagree respectfully.
Studios probably looked at the streaming numbers of the original show, which are very good right now (in the top 10 of watched minutes of all shows on a streaming at the moment). I hope a revival fares better than Gilmore Girls, which had similar circumstances and didn’t turn out that well…
To be fair, the “Gilmore Girls” update minimized everything we liked about the original show and magnified everything we didn’t.
I always enjoyed the individual capers and investigations in “White Collar,” but I found the season-long arcs (in which Neal and Mozzie searched for some mysterious object and/or person while Peter pretended not to notice) to be mostly tiresome. I assume the revivial will have something similar, so I hope they come up with a more interesting long-term story.
I will be looking forward to this reboot. Now bring back Royal Pains too!
I can’t wait!!! Loved loved loved White Collar! Obviously Mozzie/Willie Garson will be greatly missed. But this is great news! I met Willie Garson once–very nice and utterly devoted to his son. And he confirmed that the chemistry on screen between the characters existed off screen too–that they were all very close. It would be nice if they also brought back Marsha Thomason and Sharif Atkins, as they would contribute to the authenticity as well. Sadly, Diahann Carroll will be missing too.

Sorry to say I’m disappointed Peter is coming back. I thought he became increasingly controlling and very creepy towards end of series run. Was really hoping he would have been killed in line of duty and Neil would come back to support Elizabeth and be a consultant or run a Leverage-like crew in the art world – certainly no longer coerced – and Clinton Jones could now be the FBI liaison
