Georgia ranked low in SEC stadium rankings

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia Bulldogs are on the longest home winning streak in the nation right now, but that did not stop CBS Sports’ David Cobb from ranking Sanford Stadium sixth among SEC stadiums. Georgia is ranked behind Auburn (No. 5), Tennessee (No. 4), Florida (No. 3), Alabama (No. 2) and LSU (No. 1).

South Carolina (No. 7), Texas A&M (No. 8), Texas (No. 9) and Oklahoma (No. 10) round out the top 10 best stadiums in the SEC. Georgia certainly has a better home record in recent seasons than any team ranked ahead of the Bulldogs. Sanford Stadium has an open end, which allows some noise to escape, but provides a scenic backdrop for Bulldog fans.

“Georgia is 41-1 at home over the last seven seasons,” said Davis Cobb. “While the Bulldogs faithful deserve plenty of credit for the team’s success at Sanford Stadium, much of that dominance should probably be attributed to the talent advantage amassed by UGA under coach Kirby Smart.”

There’s no doubt that Georgia has some stout competition in the SEC, which is home to nine of the country’s 13 largest college football stadiums. Following the SEC’s recent additions of Oklahoma and Texas, the conference now has six of the 10 largest football stadiums in the country (includes the NFL and neutral sites).
