🎉Showcasing the best in British automotive technology. We had a great time at Cenex Expo 2024 last week, chatting with friends old and new and providing a spotlight for some of the latest zero-emission technology. It was exciting to see the different zero-emission technologies we’ve supported recently on the UK Government Pavilion, Advanced Route to Market Demonstrator stand and across the event on our partners stands. 🔦 Could we be shining a spotlight on your technology next? Collaborative R&D competitions provide funding, collaboration and expertise to projects that accelerate the automotive industry to net zero. You could even be featured on our next stand. The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) collaborates with UK government, the automotive industry and academia to accelerate the industrialisation of technologies, supporting the transition to deliver net-zero emission vehicles. Since its foundation in 2013, APC has funded 170 low-carbon projects involving 402 partners, working with companies of all sizes, and has helped to create or safeguard nearly 50,000 jobs in the UK. The technologies developed in these projects are projected to save over 288 million tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of removing the lifetime emissions from 12 million cars. With its deep sector expertise and cutting-edge knowledge of new propulsion technologies, APC’s role in building and advising project consortia helps projects start more quickly and deliver increased value. In the longer term, its work to drive innovation and encourage collaboration is building the foundations for a successful and sustainable UK automotive industry. In 2019 the UK government committed the Automotive Transformation Fund (ATF) to accelerate the development of a net-zero vehicle supply chain, enabling UK-based manufacturers to serve global markets. ATF investments are awarded through the APC to support strategically important UK capital and R&D investments that will enable companies involved in batteries, motors and drives, power electronics, fuel cells, recycling, and associated supply chains to anchor their future.

💚 This World EV Day we're taking a look back at just some of the 462 low-carbon projects we've supported that are helping to aid the world's sustainability goals. 🚗🔌 Wrightbus built the world’s first double decker hydrogen fuel cell bus, and now has fleets operating in five cities across the UK and Ireland. “We have buses in Aberdeen, Birmingham, London, Belfast, and Dublin. They have now covered more than a million miles and saved 1,600 tonnes of CO2,” said Neil Collins, Managing Director of Wrightbus. The demand for low-carbon buses is completely transforming the way Wrightbus is approaching its business. Funding from the Advanced Route to Market Demonstrator (ARMD) programme also allowed them to build a single-deck hydrogen fuel cell concept demonstrator and test vehicle, as seen in the video below. 💚 This World EV Day we're taking a look back at just some of the 462 low-carbon projects we've supported that are helping to aid the world's sustainability goals. 🚗🔌 BMW chose a team of British small businesses and academics to design the next-generation of inverters for its battery electric vehicles. @FutureBEV focused on delivering mainstream, competitive EV powertrains, both in function and cost, simultaneously fostering a new domestic supply chain for subcomponents and system capability, enabling the UK’s transition to future electromobility. The project used Silicon Carbide (SiC) converters working at 800V, rather than the typical 400V, to allow faster charging, higher performance, and greater efficiency. It also focused on increasing reliability and bringing down manufacturing costs. 🎧 Find out more about this project in our Road to Net Zero podcast here 👇 https://okt.to/SOlZm2 If you want to discover more about the projects we've supported along our journey, check out our case studies 👉 https://okt.to/mz0RFX Discover more about World EV Day 👉https://okt.to/vKNLge

MICA is very excited about our debate-style EV Masterclass on 2nd October. Our expert speakers will be digging into how automotive professionals can deliver their messaging clearly when customers can be either partisan, confused or utterly bewildered by their future choices. Vicky Read, CEO of ChargeUK, provides the infrastructure perspective. As the voice of the UK’s EV charging industry, the organisation is made up of companies that install and operate the network of electric charging points necessary to underpin the UK’s transition to electric vehicles and Net Zero. Starting her position in May of this year, Vicky – like ChargeUK’s members – is dedicated to making EV charging as convenient and affordable as possible. Vicky puts great importance on working with all from across the energy and transport ecosystem, to ensure that the UK can switch to electric vehicles with confidence. Join MICA to access the event for free, or get your ticket for £65 on our website: https://www.mica.org.uk/ #PR #communications #automotive #EVs #EVtechnology #automotivepr #automotivecommunications #automotivetechnology #electriccars #electricvehicles
