How does your company involve employees in shaping your #AI use? At AI Governance we see the tremendous potential of AI to create a better world, but we also understand that responsible development and use are crucial. That's why we support organisations to collaborate with their employees so they are active co-creators in shaping the AI future, not bystanders. This collaborative spirit unfolds through several interwoven threads. For some, it's about forming dedicated committees where diverse voices from across the company – engineers, ethicists, product managers, and legal minds – weave together. Their combined perspectives inform risk identification, define ethical principles, and guide the responsible development of our AI initiatives. For other organisations, a less structured approach fits their culture and ethos better. Whatever structure clients use, we know that understanding doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's vital to empower your employees through comprehensive training programs. These dive deep into the nuances of AI bias, explainability, and impact assessments, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to actively contribute. Innovation flourishes when we tap into the collective creative power of our team. That's why it's important to encourage employees to share their ideas and concerns through internal hackathons and innovation challenges. These serve as vibrant platforms for diverse perspectives to come together, ultimately fostering creative solutions for responsible AI applications. We believe in open communication and transparency throughout this journey. Are you listening intently to employee feedback and perceptions through regular surveys and discussions about AI use? Do you have a two-way dialogue to uncover people's concerns and ensure their voices are heard and valued? Doing this will help you identify areas for improvement and refine your approach. Keeping everyone informed is key. Updates on your progress, challenges, and learnings should be openly shared through your internal channels and team meetings. This collaborative spirit builds trust, accountability, and fuels a culture of innovation. By empowering your employees to be active participants, you can ensure that your AI solutions are not just powerful, but also ethical, inclusive, and contribute positively to society. Let us know if we can help you on this exciting journey! #ResponsibleAI #EmployeeEmpowerment #AIEthics

Interesting report from Randstad - they found 13% of employees have been offered AI training opportunities but 33% are using it in their day-to-day roles. So there's a risk of people not using these powerful tools well and making mistakes because they don't understand enough about the predictions that they are working with. If your people haven't been given guidance on how to use AI with wisdom and integrity, isn't it time to you invested in training them?

Data & AI Ethics Officer @ Randstad | MSc Oxford University | Global Index on Responsible AI Contributor

In Randstad’s first position paper on AI and the labour market, one of the things we reckon with is the fact that, while the HR tech industry has been exploding for several years, the truth is that the public are wary of the application of AI in recruitment. This makes sense; in most societies, we aren’t yet at a level of trust in AI where we’re comfortable with machines making decisions that affect our livelihoods. In light of this I’m particularly proud that we’ve been able to share (a few🙂) of our efforts into responsible AI, such as how we’ve embedded AI ethics impact assessments into our workflow to promote ethics-by-design, and our research work in the field of responsible AI in recruitment. Take a guess at what percentage of finance professionals have had training on Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning. Despite being at the forefront of decision making on what their organisations should invest in (and being bombarded with third party suppliers touting #AI based tools), this report from Wolters Kluwer found that: ▪ 61% of finance pros have had no AI or machine learning training, and ▪ only 14% had received a day or more of training. No wonder so many accountants feel out of their depth when trying assess AI investment proposals! Let's make 2024 the year for turning this round. At https://smpl.is/88fyp we provide online and in-person training to give you and your team the knowledge you need. Many leaders are crying out for help to know they are "doing the right thing" with developing, or simply using, #ai systems and services. Here's some progress with new guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre. Advice includes providing training to raise staff awareness of the risks and threats, and providing users with guidance on appropriate use of the tech. We've been lobbying all year for it to be mandatory for third party providers to have to be transparent about when AI is in the systems they supply, what it does and any risks it may bring. We're not there yet, but this guidance, backed by 18 countries including the US and UK, is a step in the right direction. It's an easy read that doesn't demand tech skills so take a look...

In a world rapidly transforming under the influence of artificial intelligence, we firmly believe that access to AI knowledge should be a fundamental right, not a privilege. That's why we've made it our mission to bridge the AI divide by providing pro bono educational sessions whenever we can. Our recent engagement with the University of Hull was an inspiring experience, where we had the privilege of sharing our insights with students, researchers and staff. The energy and enthusiasm we witnessed (suitably tempered with caution)were truly invigorating, reaffirming our commitment to empowering communities with the knowledge to harness the transformative power of AI. If you know of a non-profit organisation that could benefit from our expertise in AI and data governance and ethics, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are passionate about fostering a future where AI is accessible and empowering for all. #AIknowledge #education #probono #AIdivide #empoweringcommunities #dataethics #universitycollaboration+#knowledgeforall
