Director | Talent Acquisition, Recruitment & Careers | in Consulting Engineering & Energy | at Amida
4 months in… Running my own company within Amida…feels like…done…doing next! Feels good! Looks like the “the universe’s plans for you” image Stephen Bartlett shared recently. If you didn’t see it in your feed, it was an adventurous route of craggy peaks and treacherous (sometimes water filled) depressions. Accentuated highs and lows, with sunshine and rain! It’s been a joy to reconnect with old contacts and create new relationships. Helping individuals to realise their company and or personal aspirations feels great. Highlights include (in no particular order): · Helping someone transition from a technical and process focussed role into a people and collaboration focussed role (at Associate Director grade, London)…and being entrusted with the search by one of the best, most developed consultancies out there · Becoming a trusted partner to a new client (and old contact) and enabling them to realise their aspirations through talent acquisition…Transportation and Civils so far, with Structures, HR and Finance to come, across Bristol, Manchester and London · Helping someone transfer their skills into the UK market (Civil Engineer, Bristol)…sadly it’s been a struggle to help people do this…new Home Office salary thresholds from April 2024 are a real blocker, especially for 2024 graduates on a post study visa · Helping a 70something year-old into work (someone who declined an offer from my then employer when they were about 60!)…at the ‘early career’ end of the journey, running the attraction and selection process for an Apprentice intake, including psychometrics and bringing new people into Consulting Engineering (teenagers as it happens!!) · Working with so many good people, both looking to hire and job seeking…frustrated that I haven’t been able to help everyone yet…I’m trying! · Working with Aaron George again. It’s been a pleasure and I’m excited for what’s to come. We’ve joined more dots than we anticipated. We intended and expected to operate within Consulting Engineering, mostly in southwest England and Wales. We’ve done that, plus London and Manchester. We’ve followed clients and candidates where we realistically could. In Structures, Civils, MEP, Transportation, HR and Finance, so far From Director to Apprentice and every grade in-between. We are contingency recruiter, retained search consultant and inhouse recruiter/ talent acquisition consultant. What next: Writing and reading this, I think it’s about time to start recruiting recruiters!* Thank you to everyone who is embracing and supporting us. We really appreciate it. *If you are a proven Principal Consultant in Consulting Engineering, Energy, wider Construction or Engineering and you’d like to know more about running your own company within Amida, alongside me and Aaron, please introduce yourself.
