Über uns

In our UK home, we unite art and design specialists from every continent (except Antarctica!). With 30+ projects running at any time, we’re proud of our creative excellence, tailored project management and deeply collaborative approach. Our team of over 50 artists and designers cover Concept Art, 2D Game Art, Animation and 3D, supporting game development at every stage. We’re creative partnership experts, with long-standing relationships with clients on world renowned IPs. We asked the team for their thoughts on the studio’s culture. They say people are the defining element – plus the down-to-earth, friendly vibe and welcoming social scene they’ve created. The team’s diversity, professional support, and development opportunities, and the UK as a place to live are just a few other factors that shape our brilliant culture.

15 Years of Atomhawk and we couldn't be prouder! 🎂🎊 It's hard to believe it's been this long, but we're so proud of our Atomhawk Design team which has gone from strength to strength, no matter the challenges. From our tiny co-founder team in the Gateshead International Business Centre to 70+ artists, designers and producers across two UK locations. Our flock has gotten huge! We have serviced some of the biggest names in the entertainment business, being a long-term partner for NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat franchise, taking a detour to support films like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and more recently contributing a huge amount of armour and weapon designs for 2024's breakout hit, Helldivers 2. Our team is awesome, no other way to describe it. Just looking at our website and social media, it can be hard to fathom the full scope that allows Atomhawk run as smoothly as it does. We have to take this moment to shout-out our skilled and dedicated production, management and studio engagement teams who really are the ones who make everything happen. They are our beating heart and our spine, giving the support needed to our project teams to be able to do their best every single day. This is what Darren Yeomans, our Studio Director, said when asked about the studio and it's future: "We’ve had an incredible 15 years. We’ve been sharing some of the gorgeous work we supported on for Moonbreaker. Today let’s talk about props, a crucial part of the game development pipeline which sometimes gets overlooked! From simple assets, to guns, to complex structures, prop artists are responsible for creating objects that enrich worldbuilding and add depth to the player’s immersive experience. We had a chat with Environment Discipline Lead, Artur Zima, who shares some insight on our approach when creating props for our clients’ worlds: “Props can be an incredibly important aspect of game design as well as creating compelling and believable worlds. There’s a lot that can be conveyed even through a simple prop – its age, who made it and for what purpose, how it was used and by whom, among many others. It’s important to consider and pay close attention to such details during the design process to ensure that each prop tells a story and helps with world building. Additionally, when it comes to interactable objects, thinking about functionality is also crucial. It can be quite challenging, trying to find the right balance between something that looks plausible but also looks and feels exciting.” See more of our Moonbreaker work on our website 🌙👉 https://lnkd.in/gasdV8NH

Did you catch the Environment and Prop Concept work we recently posted for Moonbreaker? During our engagement with Unknown Worlds Entertainment, we helped to flesh out the worldbuilding of some of the factions in the game. We caught up with corlen kruger, our Environments Deputy Discipline Lead, on his experience with the project: “When I started working on the Moonbreaker project, I did not realise how rich and breathtaking its lore was. I knew I had to ensure my designs and concepts had to complement the existing narrative and bring its written elements to life visually. Designing the unique structures of the alien races was immensely rewarding. It allowed me to craft distinctive looks and identities for them, creating an experience that players would enjoy while exploring the various moons in the Moonbreaker universe.” See a selection of the work on our website 🌙👉 https://lnkd.in/gasdV8NH

Alongside the day-to-day work on our 30+ live projects, we devote a portion of our time to training & development, and the creation of new IP. This internal learning helps our team to explore new ideas and processes, which keeps our creative minds refreshed and eager for the next challenge. As we are bound to some of the strictest NDA’s in the industry with AAA clients, the work you might see on our website is only a fraction of our actual output. In the same way we solve our clients' creative challenges, we also have to find new ways to showcase our team’s expert capabilities! "Working on internal projects such as Myths and Monsters provides our team with an excellent opportunity to refine their personal skills and experiment with new technologies and techniques," said Dario Jelušić, Art Director at Atomhawk Design. "It’s incredibly fulfilling to art direct a project like this from its inception. It is great to see our teams coming together to create exceptional work and to witness that same quality being translated to client work." Curious to find out more about the skills within our expert team and how we can service your game projects? Come and meet us at External Development Summit (XDS) next week, or explore our services and projects in more detail, and check out our website ➡ atomhawk.com
