It was great to see the place buzzing again yesterday for our annual Staff Conference 😊 Staff from all campuses came together for the launch of our 24-27 Strategic Ambition. After hearing from the Senior Leadership Team, break-out sessions gave everyone a chance to discuss how to best take this forward within their areas. Staff valued the opportunity to have their voices heard and enjoyed catching up with colleagues and sharing best practice. Productive conversations were had, and many innovative suggestions were made. There was also lots of fun and laughter at the Health and Wellbeing marketplace. Huge thanks to our partners who supported this, and to all those who worked hard behind the scenes to make the event a success 👏

The Ayrshire Film Festival is an annual highlight for the Film and Broadcasting students of Ayrshire College. This year’s event was held at the newly opened Astoria Cinema. Organised by Level 6 Film and Broadcasting students as part of their essential skills class, the festival provided an excellent platform for developing core skills and meta-skills. Students adopted various roles including planning, promotion, hosting, and production, while also gaining the invaluable opportunity to network with industry professionals who supported the event as judges and special guests. The event attracted over 100 attendees who enjoyed the screenings. Congratulations to Isaac Patterson, Kirsty Fraser, and Ciaran Owens for their award-winning films: The Accused of Ayr, Reminiscence, and The Last Resort. We are pleased to highlight our growing partnerships with other colleges, exemplified by the external category award, won by NC students from Forth Valley College. Ayrshire College was delighted to welcome Meghan Gallacher MSP, Deputy Leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, to our Ayr Campus on June 25. Principal and CEO Angela Cox, alongside Vice Principal Anne Campbell and South Ayrshire Council Leader Martin Dowey, provided a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities. Highlights included the industry-standard Aeronautical Engineering Training Centre and the cutting-edge Renewables Training Centre of Excellence. Our Aeronautical Centre supports over 400 apprentices annually, offering premier training in collaboration with industry leaders such as Spirit AeroSystems, BAE Systems, and GE Caledonian. Our Renewables Centre equips students with hands-on experience in the latest low-carbon heating technologies, crucial for meeting Scotland’s Net Zero targets. The visit also provided the opportunity to talk about our successful 'All About Aero' day, which connected college staff, aerospace employers, and students in an inspiring event.
