Global economic forces to 👀 for the week of 26 August, according to our Research team. 👇 ◾Initial messages from Jackson Hole confirm that progress on US #disinflation… has paved the way for the #Fed to join the global easing cycle. ◾Data suggest a gradual easing, in our analysts’ view, and political uncertainty could still complicate the policy outlook. ◾Euro area soft data continue to point to sub-trend growth, with Germany underperforming France and the periphery. ◾Public finances showed the challenges facing the UK Chancellor for the coming Budget, while August #PMIs continue to point to decelerating growth in Q3 and further disinflation. ◾The push for higher wages in Japan will likely continue regardless of who is elected.

Global economic forces to 👀 for the week of 20 August, according to our Research team. 👇 ◾As central bankers gather for the annual Fed symposium in Jackson Hole this week, the global #inflation narrative has shifted in their favour. ◾Although the resilience narrative in the US is alive and well, likely ruling out aggressive cuts, July's inflation prints keep the #FOMC on course for a 25bp cut in September. ◾A busy data week in the UK saw wage and core #CPI disinflation continue, strong but easing GDP growth in the second quarter and conflicting signals about labour market quantities. ◾Economic activity prints published this week, with few exceptions, suggest Latin America closed Q2 on a weak footing, creating some uncertainty about the region’s economic outlook. ◾EM central banks are facing possible policy re-calibration in the wake of markets repricing for #Fed rate cuts.
