A large-scale release of prisoners this week, particularly those convicted of sexual abuse and domestic violence, could have a significant negative impact on victims, causing fear, anxiety, and a sense of insecurity, as they may worry about potential re-victimisation and a lack of safety, especially if proper support systems are not in place to manage the release process effectively; this is especially concerning if the offenders have a history of stalking or repeated abuse. It is deeply troubling to hear about the sexual violence Gisele Pelicot endured over such a long period. As an organisation dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, we stand in solidarity with her and all survivors who have experienced such horrific trauma. Her strength and resilience in sharing her story serve as a powerful reminder of the ongoing battle against sexual violence. We remain committed to raising awareness, providing support, and advocating for justice for survivors. No one should have to endure such abuse, and it's crucial that we continue working to ensure that all survivors are believed, supported, and empowered to seek justice. https://bbc.in/47l31T1 If you have been affected by this, please reach out to any of the specialist services detailed below: Calan DVS: https://bit.ly/2Xbkzyo New Pathways: https://bit.ly/3AWIGHq Live Fear Free Helpline: https://bit.ly/3jNTpLR Rape Crisis England and Wales https://bit.ly/3MBC8Aw
